Sitting and the City 1
Some of you may know that I'm participating in the +52 Shades of Gray community, that aims to improve monochrome photography skills. Each week we focus on an aspect of composition or processing and share our experiments and successes with the other members of the private community. The critique, support and advice that is shared there is invariably excellent. Thank you to +Charles Lupica for founding and leading the group and also to the other members that help to make it a true community for learning and development.
For the last 2 weeks we have been working on series. Aiming not just to produce good images with a common theme but ones that also have a consistent look and tone, and can be assembled into a collage of images that is also balanced and effective. I found this to be a lot more challenging than it may sound, but also very rewarding.

The first place your regional admin will look for your images is within the community. The new hashtag #ukpcphoto will be a secondary source of finding your photos. Posting to the community and using the # are the best ways to be found/seen.

Adjust the volume of community posts in your Home stream
You can already adjust the volume of What's Hot and Circle posts in your Home stream (see http://goo.gl/d2nlU and http://goo.gl/wrHDD). Today, and by popular demand, we're bringing this option to Communities.
Say you want to see more posts from your travel community: now you can dial it up! Or maybe you don't want to be tempted by your dessert community (too often): choose to see fewer posts in your Home stream, or none at all. It's completely up to you!
To try it out, just visit a community that you've joined and click the "Actions" menu. You'll see options at the bottom to adjust the volume of posts in your Home stream. This will roll out throughout the day today.

Google Reader Closing Down
I just woke up to this horrible, horrible message. Apparently Google are closing down Google Reader as part of their newest round of spring cleaning (goo.gl/E9DE7). A decision I very much hate.
I have for years used Google Reader more than any other online service; yes, even more than Google+. More than half of everything I post on Google+ I've found through Google Reader. 99,9 % of all photos posted on +Captured Emotions and capturedemotions.tumblr.com are found through Google Reader. All the YouTube channels I watch I follow through Google Reader. In all, the vast majority of my consumption of online content is done through Google Reader - and now it is being closed down.
I have feared this happened for a very long time - but I didn't think Google would dare to do it. Now I have to go hunt for another reliable RSS reader with a just as b... more »

They called it Quiet London
When he'd read the event invite (that +Andrew Clifton-Brown had put out using the +Quiet London stream) he'd thought it was just a photowalk. Sure it was through a seedy part of the city, but he'd believed that the muscle, known enigmatically as +Yoon-Mi Kim, was there to keep them safe.
By the time he realised his mistake it was far too late.
Now, as he lay on the cold, stone steps, the rainy skies grew greyer and fainter.
He could still hear them, laughing as they strolled away. Already planning the next Quiet London "photowalk".

Photography Android App for my Final Year Project
Hello photography friends,
I have a small favour to ask of you all :)
As part of my degree I am creating an android app for photographers and having just completed the prototype it would be hugely beneficial to gain some feedback from actual photographers.
I have distributed this around my peers at university but this gives me a very small target audience and I have had limited response from individuals who class themselves anything more than a beginner.
If you have 5 mins spare could you please complete this short usability survey

Originally shot and processed for the monochrome improvement community +52 Shades of Gray but sharing to public too. The community assignments continue to take me outside my normal comfort zone, which can't be a bad thing :)

Downloading all photos from an event
One of my favorite parts about Google+ Events is how it puts everyone's event photos into a single, shared album. Many of you have asked for the option to download all of these photos, all at once, and today we're excited to launch precisely this feature!
Simply visit your event page on the desktop, click 'Actions,' then click 'Download event photos.' And voila. Let us know what you think in the comments.

Thames Beach
This is my submission for the Plus One Collection 2012. It wasn't an easy choice but this is the one I've settled on.
It was taken on a Photowalk in London, and while I posted it at the time I was never entirely happy with the processing. I recently re-visited it and after some suggestions on G+ I came up with this version that I much prefer. for me this image reflects London both as a financial centre and a place where people can be themselves.
