This is one of several BNSF coal trains that pass through the Chattanooga area each day from the Powder River Basin mining operation in Wyoming and enroute to the Robert W. Scherer Power Plant, just north of Macon, Georgia.

Mourning Cloak (Nymphalis antiopa)
This afternoon I took advantage of the great weather to take a mountain bike ride on the Tanasi Trail System in Polk County near Copperhill, Tennessee. The trail climbs from the Ocoee River and up into the surrounding mountains.
One of the signs that spring is just around the corner is the emergence of the overwintering Morning Cloak, of which I encountered many. In most cases they flew up from the trail in front of me while other times they sailed through the still dormant trees.
This individual was photographed in Polk County in early June of 2009.

We've had record setting rainfall the past month, or so, here in east Tennessee and the local creeks and rivers have really been roaring. This recent capture is of Foster Falls and Horsetail Falls found in South Cumberland State Park, Marion County, near the town of Jasper.

So who are these folks? And why are they photographers to follow?
First of all.. this circle contains a bunch of my closest friends on G+. The folks that I spend the most time "with" on here. There are a bunch of great photographers and just as importantly "good people" here.
1) Active : They have posted within the last month. With the holidays a lot of folks have slowed down but these folks are still there. Yes, I visited each stream.
2) Original These photographers are sharing mostly "THEIR OWN WORK" and their stream is mostly photography.
3) Interactive : I try to find folks who are interactive and comment on their own posts and the posts of others.
