Tonite I am celebrating, with much pride and joy, my daughter Laurens acceptance to 3 universities for her MBA. Now I await her final decision. No matter where she decides to go, she will do well, and she will make her passion, her success. I realize that her drive and desire for a rewarding career are in large part due to her amazing teachers and friends.

Can someone tell me why 26 Republicans voted against it? What was it the reauthorization bill that was unsavory or problematic? I really would like to understand.

As a non religious Jew, I had shivers running up and down my spine. My aunt told me the story of my uncles experiences in Poland where from a window, he watched as the Nazi's shot and killed every member of his family . He then ran to hide but eventually was captured and sent to a concentration camp where he was subject to more horrors and got to relive those horrors every night as he'd awake screaming and in a sweat.
As Jews, we go to shul and promise we will remember and swear to never forget. But look around and see what is happening in places like Syria and Mali, Pakistan and even to Palestinians.
We do discredit to the memories of the millions who died because they were different.
So what is wrong with us that we can all remain so silent; that we do not implore our governments to make the madness stop, to intercede? Why does the world not band together to... more »

Without a concerted economic impact to the Chinese, these attacks will continue. We need to isolate the Chinese and assure there is an economic and societal consequence to their actions.
Our largest manufacturers and industrial base is under attack and I believe American industry must get the ball rolling by transitioning their offshore Chinese operations to other countries or bringing them back to the US. Further, I encourage American citizens to avoid buying Chinese products. This also means avoiding products from American companies that embed Chinese components. That includes some of the most popular electronics products from Apple, Dell, Qualcom, Samsung, etc. By the way, there is already concern from our government that electronic components could have "backdoors" that allow the Chinese to spy and potentially bring our infrastructure to its knees.

I am writing all women to sign up and participate in a ground breaking breast cancer research program focused on the CAUSE of breast cancer. That's right. An ounce of Prevention is better than a pound of Cure. Just ask any woman who has had breast cancer.
While there are literally tons of research on improving treatment for breast cancer, there is precious little on how or why women get it and how to prevent it. And much of the research that has been done, has been on mice and rats who are given breast cancer!

Malala Yousafzai’s Courage
If Pakistan has a future, it is embodied in Malala Yousafzai. Yet the Taliban so feared this 14-year-old girl that they tried to assassinate her. Her supposed offense? Her want of an education and her public advocation for it.
Malala was on her way home from school in Mingora, Pakistan, in the Swat Valley, on Tuesday when a Taliban gunman walked up to the school bus, asked for her by name and shot her in the head and neck. On Wednesday, doctors at a military hospital removed the bullet that lodged in her shoulder. She remains in critical condition.

Sadly, most Romney supporters probably believe this as well. Everyone thinks their the ones who work hard, and the other guy's the slacker. If people who aren't doubt well aren't slackers, then that means bad things might happen to you too, and that maybe not everything you have came only from your hard work. Privilege deludes even those who don't have it. It paints a false picture of the world.

Today was pro-USA demonstration in Benghazi condemning the attacks on the embassy.
Everyone needs to see this, please share this. I have a feeling it will be swept under the rug by the major news outlets.
We cannot lump all the people of the middle east in with terrorists and extremists. I have known several Muslims in my life, and I know many Christians who are infinitely more radical and prone to violence than they are.
There are over a billion Muslims. You cannot say one view point is shared by that many people, it simply isn't true.
