Important news for tourists coming to Europe:
A new five-euro banknote goes into circulation across the eurozone today.

The new banknote has the following features:
- a watermark with the portrait of the Greek goddess Europa
- a hologram with the portrait of Europa
- raised lines on both left and right edges
- an emerald-colored number 5, which changes color to deep blue when the note is tilted
- the word "Euro" is written in the three official European scripts: Latin, Greek and cyrillic.

Part of the reason for the new note is to introduce stronger security measures against counterfeit bank notes and also partly to update the designs based on the enlargement of the eurozone to new member-states.
