Hey folks! Do you know anyone (preferably based in either New York or San Francisco) who'd like to join the community team here at gdgt? We have a great office right off Market Street in SOMA, and we're looking for people who obsess over gadgets.

Responsibilities include moderating user content, product research, adding the latest and greatest gadgets to our product database, and helping answer user support requests.

This is a paid, part-time gig that would probably be perfect for college students. Have any questions or interested? Let me know!

We had an interesting discussion in the office at lunch. Is Flickr past its prime? Or are there people you know who still significantly use Flickr? If you've stopped using it, how come?

I find that I still use it when uploading sets and groups of photos. For me, its the easiest way to tag, label (and later search) for photos I've taken. Plus, it's super simple to create albums and such to share with grandparents and other family members not on something like Facebook (or hip to mobile apps like Instagram).

That said, I feel like many of my photography friends have moved on. So, what's going on? Is it only for serious photo enthusiasts (many of which are starting to use 500px more)?

One thing we find that people are really digging on gdgt is the reputation system -- basically, you get points for actions you do around the site. It's a great way to gauge how active users are when looking at answers and replies.

Today, we rolled out a feature called the RP log -- it's a list showing the entirety of a user's activity. It should make things a bit more transparent. Now you can see how people are racking up points and what sort of activity they're involved in. Check it out and let us know what you think!
