One Billion Androids to make Google $10 Billion a Year
What have you thought about that statement back in 2010?
Remember this statement from +Eric Schmidt in Juli 2010 ?
It was a bold statement and at that time there were about 160.000 activations a day. There were predictions, that one billion Android phones could be reached in about 17 years - so this would have been 2027. Even bold predictions said, it would take about 5 years to get to these numbers.
Now at #IO13 the same Eric Schmidt says, that there could be one billion Android phones at the end of 2013.
So predictions are not easy, but if you look back to the last 3-4 years, the development of the Android space was tremendous and it clearly shows, that a lot can be accomplished in much shorter time, if you take #moonshots .

Circle settings update (clarification)
Just saw this post from +Max Huijgen
The important bit from Yonatan Zunger (apart from the bug confirmation):
The mapping (for Circle settings) is:
None -> None
Some -> Fewer
More -> Standard
All -> More
Despite the renaming, "More" is actually "All." (Long story as to why this naming was chosen -- I would have preferred "All" myself) "All + Notifications" was changed to separate out the notifications into a separate control, so you could even have "None + Notifications" if you wanted. (And, in fact, some people did)
What it means in practice is that "more" means "take active measures to ensure that all the posts make it;" "standard" means "normally send the posts through, unless ... more »

Today, we're releasing object change notification as a preview feature, allowing you to monitor your Google Cloud Storage buckets for new, modified, or deleted objects, using a subscription to a webhook you provide. How Communities Changed Everything
For 6 years, I have been "organizing" a community based on a common and originally narrow technology interest. We used Facebook, Linkedin, Ning Networks, Google Groups, \/\/ave and Twitter. We also have several news aggregation sites and a blog. When Google Plus began in beta, most of the 500 or so online friends in our group were banging on the door, refreshing until that invite finally let us in. I thought "This is it. We're finally home." Was I wrong. Then.
Although most people in this group use Gmail, a few don't want to do anything but the now very inactive mailing list. And not that there's anything wrong with this, a few also probably check their mail with Pine or Telnet! At any rate, getting the people on Google Plus didn't do much, but I kept beating the horse, and it didn't die on me.

Google Apps Integration Tools?
I am looking for integration tools of Google Apps into my workflow. So I would love to have something, that uses
- Contacts
- Drive
- Google+ for notes and collaboration
- Calendar for dates
- Tasks
- GMail
to make my daily work easier. I would love to have something, that arranges everything around my contacts and let me use the other tools to get my work done.
I am using Google Apps all day long and there are lots of connections, but still not a real integration.
What would you recommend?

Mobile Data Goes Up, Phone Calls Go Down, Can't Explain That

Last month set an all time low for us in terms of voice minutes, with less than an hour of our 700 minute allotment used. But at the same time, I was nearing the capacity of our mobile data plan and getting regular warnings I might exceed the cap. People aren't holding their phones to their ears as much as they used to. Instead, they're looking down at them. Is it more efficient for you to post, text, or email instead?

Start the day in an Awesome Way
I used to start the day by checking emails. It was work, they were always urgent, there was always some problem and it would sour my mood and colour the rest of the day for me. It was a destructive way to start the morning. I now start the day by dipping into Google+. Having curated my circles into groups of awesome people it provides me with a buzz of ideas, news, information and even jokes that I find stimulate my mind even before the first jolt of caffeine reaches it.
Google+, of course, is more than just another social network. It has become part of the collective knowledge of the digital age. Because it never sleeps, it acquires new ideas, fresh responses and new information all the time. I just got my Google Glass last night, and it's been a long time since a tech gadget has had me grinning ear to ear so often. I was at the #tech4dem event, and let +Marci Harris and +Macon Phillips try on my Glass. Both of them quickly got the same big grin!
It's not at all what people expect! It's a magical experience. I haven't yet been quite able to put my finger on why it feels that way, but I think it's the immediacy. Rather than fumbling for your phone, then opening the camera app, you can take a picture or a video with a touch, and share it with another touch. You can also talk to the device, taking pictures, doing google searches, getting directions, or sending emails or texts, without ever touching the devices. (You can wake it up with a touch or by tossing your head slightly.)
