Well this is certainly a big change. Going to have to live with it for awhile before making a snap judgement. Gotta give it some time.
First impression: I don't like all the weird space to the right of the trending and suggestions. It's like nobody at Google tested this on a display bigger than 1366x768.

I'm going to give DollarShaveClub a shot. No, not the $1 a month razors. I'm doing the $6 a month ones, which seem perfectly high-end to me (four blades, swivel head, ale strip, etc.) and give me basically a new razor a week. And it's LOADS cheaper than the Gillette Fusion blades I buy.

I hope it's great, and I hope it gets super popular so Gillette and Schick are forced to stop gouging us all on blades.

There's nothing particularly special about this day, per se. Every day is a day we are at the same point in our orbit around the sun as we were 365 days before. Hell, the calendar's even kind of wrong about the whole thing today: because it's 365.25 days, and this is a leap year, we're actually about a day early. We'll correct that on February 29th.

But, y'know, Happy New Year anyway!

VERY big news: astronomers have found two Earth-sized planets orbiting the same star! One is slightly smaller and the other slightly bigger than Earth, but they both qualify as the smallest exoplanets confirmed to orbit another star. Awesome.

Mind you, both are extremely hot - they orbit their star much closer than Mercury orbits the Sun. But the fact that we can find them at all confirms that the Kepler observatory can detect Earth-sized (and even smaller) planets. The ultimate goal is to find an Earth-size planet orbiting a Sun-like star at the right distance for Earth-like conditions, and this means we're another step closer to that goal.

I don't often post stuff from work, but this feature was a massive undertaking and worth checking out.

We went to 40 airports to see which ones are best for tech travelers. We counted plugs and charging stations, tested Wi-Fi speed, measured cellular coverage and speed for the major carriers, you name it.

I wish AMD and Nvidia would stop taking current-generation graphics chips, slightly altering clock speeds (if that!), and slapping a next-gen GPU number on them.
It's completely misleading, and wholly anti-consumer behavior.

I'm honestly surprised there hasn't been a class action suit about it.

Once they got Live login working I was back in, but I still have the "pre-release" tab (which was there for the beta testers). I wasn't prompted to update, and all the new app updates like Netflix work fine.

Any idea why the pre-release tab is still there, +Larry Hryb?
