INFORMS Social networking peeps!
Here is preview of Phoenix app. (+Tallys Yunes aren't you delighted now?)
http://www.informsphoenix2012.org
Will put link in eNews Daily preview later today, but would like some early feedback.
Couple of notes: can't install on device if you are Private Browsing. Turn pop-up blocker off. Camera feature a little wonky, so might want to use on desktop to select profile pic. No co-authors listed this year.
But it is very cool. The guy at Wiley worked his tail off & had to listen to my feedback, so if you see Brian at the Wiley booth, tell him thanks! BTW +Rose Futchko is a genius!

For +Laura McLay
There was a snake called Nate. His purpose in life was to stay in the desert and guard the lever. This lever was no ordinary lever. It was the lever that if moved would destroy the world. Nate took his job very seriously. He let nothing get close to the lever.
One day off in the distance he saw a cloud of dust. He kept his eye on it because he was guarding the lever. The dust cloud continued to move closer to the lever. Nate saw that it was a huge boulder and it was heading straight for the lever!
Nate thought about what he could do to save the world. He decided if he could get in front of the boulder he could deflect it and it would miss the lever. Nate slithered quickly to intersect the boulder. The boulder ran over Nate, but it was, in fact, deflected, leaving history to conclude that is was better Nate than lever.

How to Treat Women on Google+
I generally don't talk about how people should treat each other on Google+, as I think it comes down to common sense. Mostly I think it comes down to the words of Bill and Ted, "Be excellent to each other." Of late, however, it seems as if something that has gone on since the beginning of G+ is occurring with more frequency. To be precise, men from certain countries (or maybe it's American teenagers impersonating men from certain countries-- it's hard to tell) seem to think it is okay to hit on women here. I really don't know what they want to accomplish, but I thought maybe someone should lay things out for them.
First: It is not okay to ask for "Sexy Time": If I had a dime for every time some bloke asked for "sexy time" or something to the effect from a woman here on Google+, I'd be a rich ... more »

A guy named Hopper, not much of a prep, more comfortable with a hoe (the digging kind), had not much hope of becoming the pope because one day he'll be a pop, along with becoming an ORMS pro full of pep perhaps working on supply chains of rope, extraction of ore without clogging a pore, or serving roe with blinis, of course, he might need to hop and step up his game with a prop to be the best rep of ORMS per INFORMS!

This week in Baltimore we were celebrating the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812, and Francis Scott Key writing the Star Spangled Banner. We were mobbed by tourons, but all in all, a great weekend. 40 tall ships from around the world, Blue Angels, and some fireworks!

One of my all time favorites.
A piece of string walked into a bar and said "Gimme a beer!" but the bartender said "Get outta here! We don't serve your kind here!" So the string left, but he was thirsty, and he really wanted a beer, so he messed up his hair real badly and looped himself around until he had tied himself into a knot. When the string went back into the bar, the bartender looked at him suspiciously and said "Aren't you that worthless piece of string I just threw outta here?" No, the string replied, "I'm a frayed knot!"

Too long for twitter...
The ark lands after The Flood. Noah lets all the animals out. Says,"Go and multiply." Several months pass. Noah decides to check up on the animals. All are doing fine except a pair of snakes. "What's the problem?"says Noah. "Cut down some trees and let us live there", say the snakes.
Noah follows their advice. Several more weeks pass. Noah checks on the snakes again. Lots of little snakes, everybody is happy.
Noah asks,"Want to tell me how the trees helped?"
"Certainly", say the snakes."We're adders, and we need logs to multiply."

Once again, too long for twitter.
Before Al Gore became vice president of the United States, he worked
briefly as a drummer for a little known night club act. Some people
say that during that time he came up with the best most mathematically
precise rhythms ever known to man. They are now called appropriately
enough:
Al Gore Rhythms.

Sorry to infect g+ with puns, but this wouldn't fit on twitter. ;)
I like European food so I decided to Russia over there because I was Hungary. After Czech'ing the menu I ordered Turkey. When I was Finnished I told the waiter 'Spain good but there is Norway I could eat another bite'.
