This now looks very similar across all devices. So whether you are using Chrome or Android (or iOS) you will find usuality and style to be almost the same.
I will focus on Google Chrome as this is where most of the changes have been, and forgive me for any errors/omissions as I am still working it all through...
Site structure:
The side bar of options for e.g. profile, communities, ‘what’s hot’ etc, is now a hover activated one.
The top bar of e.g. for a profile options for ‘about’ are now at the top of the page instead of being underneath the ‘cover photo’
Google+ Search is hidden at the top until you need it

A day of unrest as the G+ stream was broken, can now be put to bed
Lead architect for G+ +Yonatan Zunger just confirmed that two bugs caused the stream to stagnate for many users.
The stream for All Circles as well as specific circles didn´t show new posts and many users complained about a lack of interaction on their posts.
The suspicion was that Google had introduced a new relevance algorithm overruling the users circle settings. A speculation which was fed by a change in the actual circle slider settings. Instead of a slider control over the amount of posts you would see per circle is now done with the choices normal, more, fewer and a check mark ´subscribe´

Coincidentally enough, +Michael Nolan works as a "visualizer" (are they hiring, +Michael Nolan? Because I can visualize the sh*t out of things-) for the imaginatively-named "California Design Company", whose post he just re-shared with the Cynical Singles of Google+ Community.... a post that is relevant to that Community HOW, exactly, +Michael Nolan....?
A quick peek at his profile also reveals his fondness for re-sharing posts from "GottaShopIt.com", which I'm sure is also a fine, reputable internet company as well.

I'm looking for a good tutorial that explains exactly how the new G+ circle volume settings work (the ones that replaced the "sliders").
I'm also interested in how long of a "lag" to expect between changing the settings and having those changes take effect.

PLEASE
NEED HELP!
I was mucking about with the various settings a couple of days ago (due to not being notified whenever someone mentioned me in a post to let me know about an upcoming hangout. It also sounded as if I was missing some other kinds of G+ posts I used to be notified about.)
And now... IT ONLY TAKES FIFTEEN MINUTES FOR MY RED NOTIFICATION BOX TO MAX OUT AT 99+ !!!
Which means I'm missing all the notifications I care about. Juggling multiple discussions in multiple places on G+ like I used to do is now impossible.
I have gone to each and every one of my circles' settings (under the bell icon) and have UNCLICKED "Get notified about new posts". A day later- no change with the red box maxing out in fifteen minutes.

Oh man, I have SEVERELY screwed up my notifications beyond all conceivable recognition. But dammit, I needed to experiment with That Which Has Replaced The Sliders. Sometimes the only way to see what a setting does is to change it.
Putting everything back the way it was didn't fix things, so now I'm just hoping there's some delay between my (hopefully) fixing it and it being fixed...
Guess we'll see where we're at with it tomorrow.

I recently found out through the newspaper obituary that the mother of one of my local Charlottesville acquaintances had passed away, so I fired up my Facebook page of five thousand, three hundred and eighty four fans (after months of not using it) to express my condolences.
Twenty four hours later, according to FB, one thousand five hundred and thirty three people saw the post... out of those one thousand five hundred and thirty three people, only one person clicked the "Like" button... and NONE of them had ANY comment to make.
Of course, if I really cared enough to want to get lots of "Likes" on FB, I would have simply posted the single word status update "penis". In FB-land, that's almost a virtual guarantee of thirty "Likes". It also helps if you actually have friends who are both on FB, and extremely lame.

SCIENCE SHOULD NOT BE YET ANOTHER PARTISAN POLITICAL BATTLEGROUND!
Because Science should just be allowed to be... well, Science.
Rep. Lamar Smith (yes, THAT Lamar Smith) has drafted a bill that would replace peer review (i.e., review by scientists) at the National Science Foundation with a set of funding criteria chosen and overseen by Congress (yes, THAT Congress). Let that, and the implications, sink in for a minute.
Let's face it- in the present U.S. political climate, for perhaps half of the politicians... Science is not exactly their strongest school subject... to say the least. Consider signing this and passing it along.

Missing posts: You aren't reaching everyone you think you are
TL;DR: You possibly don't see all the posts you think you do. And not everybody is seeing your posts, even when they think they are.
People have noticed for many months that not all the posts they expect to see will show up in their stream. Lately, more people seem to have noticed and are being more vocal about it. Please see +Halfdan Reschat's post at https://plus.google.com/103697368260407276883/posts/aoNnoRHb9UL and +Chris Mallory's post at https://plus.google.com/102738311227610607654/posts/EovffpoFp9D for examples.
An implication is not just that you aren't seeing all the posts you expect to see; people who circle you are not seeing all of your posts.
