MORNING FRESH
(90mm + 50mm reversal macro)
Although yesterday was #macromonday , I had to unfortunately miss it and concentrate on the dreaded four letter word that ends in "K", and usually happens between Monday & Friday.
This is my favourite way, and least expensive method of getting in really close to your macro subject. Just an older style 50mm SLR lens, mine is an old film type with aperture ring on it which I must manually set to wide open.
Lighting is the only thing I've seen hold people back from getting a good result with 50mm reversed, and the most common mistake is adjusting the Aperture to compensate for lack of light, because your focal plane gets thinner with each step.
I like to shoot macro with f/22-32, this is how I make my own light and don't rely on natural light.

Taken from Red Rock Crossing in Sedona, AZ, with its iconic view of Cathedral Rock. This was a particularly nice sunset, with very cooperative winter skies!

heute war der zweite tag in folge, wo das wetter herrlich war. sonne satt, azur blauer himmel und abends beim dinner ein sonnenuntergang, wie man ihn nur hier sieht - ein fantastisches farbenspiel der natur, das sich im minutentakt farblich verändert,
leider geht unser urlaub so langsam dem ende zu, so ist das halt im leben, man wartet ewig auf diese zeit, und wenn sie dann kommt, ist sie leider so schnell vorbei - ich wünsche euch noch einen schönen sonntag abend und einen zauberhaften pfingsmontag. :)

Just a little experiment in creative lighting. This isn't a PhotoShop trick, that is a fire cracker going off that I used to light this shot.
And before you ask, I really have no idea how or why I came up with this idea, it just popped into my head today at work...heh.

Shafts of Light
There are places where you visit that you know you'll never forget. Upper Antelope Canyon near Page, Arizona is one of those special places. The light bounces against the walls of the narrow canyon and highlight the delicate patterns and colors on the walls. I hope you get to visit there someday!!

Good Morning, Plus Peeps
Here is another shot from my Sunflower adventures yesterday. Luckily I had the 70-300 zoom with me, as I had to shoot it from the road, so as not to trespass on the owner's massive growing field. Trying to dodge the raindrops, I composed my frame, fired off a few test shots, then waited for just the right light when this little wonder flew straight into the middle of the flower. I had to quickly re-focus, but its wings were still moving (and hence a little blurry). All in all, not a bad result from a Sunday Monday drive in the rain...

I've sent feedback on this, but I actually want help, if anyone knows the actual answer.
I am following the instructions on the "Highlights" Google+ help page here: https://support.google.com/plus/answer/3125309?p=photos_highlights&rd=1 .
I clicked on "Highlights" on an album page. There, under "Remove photos from the Highlights" text, it says to "Hide from highlights from the dropdown menu next to Share." I've selected the photos I want to hide from highlights on the page I am working on, but no dropdown, nor the option "hide from highlights" appears, nor is available at any time, anywhere near "Share".
"Hide from highlights" is not available as an option in the regular dropdown menu on the upper right either.

I'm still absorbing the new changes here.
One thing to note, if you are a photographer and you've done all the "enhancing" yourself and don't want someone else deciding what your images should look like: Auto Enhance and Auto Awesome are checked ON by default. If you don't want that, go to your Settings from the dropdown at the upper left (Settings option is at the bottom) and scroll down to uncheck them.
I am currently trying to find out how to post an image to one of my albums ... reading the stream last night, I saw some folks having difficulties getting their image to post to a specific album properly and in some cases having many images auto-delete ... eek!
If you are having any difficulties, remember there is a "Send Feedback" option (from the same dropdown menu on the upper left.) I've never had a social network... more »

Is That Photo Real?
That's a question someone left in the comments of one of my images. I haven't answered yet. I couldn't think of the "short version".
Let's leave off with the pithy comeback that first danced across my mind, "Do you mean, as opposed to a figment of your imagination?"
Nah … let's not go there.
How about, "Do you mean, did I process it myself on my own computer, as opposed to letting the computer in the camera process it?" Since that's what we are talking about here. Because, you know, what comes straight out of a camera isn't any more "real" than what an artist envisions for a capture, after the fact.
Truth is tendency. Reality is relative.
