For those of you that will be able to view the eclipse in a couple of hours but don't have the eyewear to see it properly, a neat little trick is to break open an old floppy disk and use that to view the sun! If it's not a enough, double it up with two disks.

I learned this game about 10 years ago and it took me three days to figure out. I'm sure it would be much more tempting to use the interwebs to figure out the formula but trust me, you don't want to. It's worth doing it on your own. If you haven't heard of it, as any reputable geek should, read up on a bit of history in the main link.

1. The name of the game is Petals Around the Rose
2. The name is important
3. The answer will be 0 or an even number
4. You can know the sum, you discover the formula

For those whom have not experience the glorious, glorious, you will never be able to do this acoustic guitar of Erik Mongrain, permit me to introduce you. This is probably his most well known piece, Air Tap! and while it's not his primary style, it would be a shame to pass up knowing this piece is performed in lap tap style for those that play Rock Band and find this song familiar. I had a run-in with planned obsolescence last night. We have a higher end Kenmore Elite dishwasher that decided it was going to throw a fit and not work anymore for no apparent reason. It was flashing a red light and no matter what I did I could not get it to work, even unplugging it for an hour yielded nothing. What else to do other than call it in for repairs. Hmm, let's try Google first. A couple of minutes into the search I read a thread on some obscure forum that another owner of the same unit pushed button "A" followed by button "B" back and forth a few times and everything lit up for them, reset and it worked again. So I did the same and got the same result. No repairs needed now but how aggravating this planned obsolescence thing.
