It's St Patrick's Day and my son's birthday. Between a shamrock or any green cake and a tardis, well, the blue kind of won. We're lucky that our local grocery sells individual M&M colours.

(Good thing he doesn't have a G+ account and won't see this till dessert time!)

My mom found this at a flea market and gave it to me for my mini garden.

Mahjong or má jiàng (麻將)

Holidays with my side of the family means a lot of time spent playing rounds of mahjong. This Christmas, we were checking out different ways of playing the game and all the rules that surround it. We also found out a lot of different combinations of winning (though some of them were  almost impossible to achieve).  It was enough to confuse my poor husband who shook his head and asked "Does this change the game at all?" ... And of which the answer was "No."

Do you know that according to myth, Confucius was believed to have developed the game in about 500 BC? And the distinctive sound the tiles make while being shuffled is sometimes referred to as the "twittering of sparrows"?
