I had the honor and privilege of capturing my niece's first haircut this past week. I can never get bored with making portraits of this sweet little angel! Here is but a sampling of the experience. #haircutthursday

Well... It certainly isn't my best work, but I'm already a week behind. Time seems to be at a premium right now. Even so, I still make sure to find a little time to see how the masters do it with a little night cap reading.

#5of52weeks2012 for #52weeks2012 curated by +Arthur Chang

I try to be a man of faith, but there are some weeks that do their darnedest to challenge that faith. This week was one of those weeks.

A good argument for why professional photography isn't just for ANYONE with a SLR camera! Even if that isn't the point of the article.

Anyone who knows me will know that soccer is a big part of my life. I was lucky enough to be able to play in college and in the top armature league after college.

Now I just play for fun, but It is also an outlet for me. Last Friday I twisted my knee up pretty good and now I have to just sit and watch. It's a hard thing to do!

So this week my #4of52weeks2012 submission for #52weeks2012 curated by +Arthur Chang is this Selfy titled: Longing...

This weeks #52weeks2012 challenge curated by +Arthur Chang

My secret side I keep hid under lock and key
I keep it caged but I can't control it
'Cause if I let him out he'll tear me up, break me down
Why won't somebody come and save me from this, make it end?

I feel it deep within, it's just beneath the skin
I must confess that I feel like a monster
I hate what I've become, the nightmare's just begun
I must confess that I feel like a monster

It bothers me a bit when people say they 'hate' sales and sales people. Sales is what makes the world go round, and we are all sales men... and women.

This post just about sums it up too!

Great perspective on who Tim Tebow is from an observers point of view.

I made it to #2of52Weeks2012 ! It happens to be my birthday this week so I thought, what better way to acknowledge this day than to include it in my self portrait project. So this is my happy birthday to... Me!

Thank you +Arthur Chang for curating #52Weeks2012 . So far I have more than doubled the number of of self portraits I've done (3)!

This was definitely challenging, and it didn't turn out exactly the way I had in mind. It's tough making sure I'm in focus, I'm centered in the frame, the hat AND the party blower thingy were in frame, throw the confetti in the air, and trigger the remote at the right time!!

In the end, it didn't all come together perfect, but I'm pleased!

WooHoo. Finally, I get to say coffee is good for me. And makes me happy. And makes me sexy, and smart, and rich. Well, the article may not say all that, but I added my own interpretation, and of course my perception is my reality.

My wife found this c. 1936 Agfa ANSCO B-2 Cadet box camera at a estate store and picked it for me as a gift. The more I get into photography, the more interested I become in the history of photography and the tools those who came before us had to work with. Today we have these high powered computers we use to capture our photos, and that has helped us capture usable photos on a more consistent basis. But the photographers of the past relied on well composed photos to stand out, and I think that, even though there are many, many photographers out there now, the same thing is going to help you stand out from the rest today. that is why I am making it a priority to work on my Composition.

So it's time to start my Self-Portrait 52 Project, but what to do....

I guess the best place to start is reflecting on the week that marks the beginning of 2012. So, here is a portrait that captures what 2012 has meant to me thus far - work, work, work!

Unfortunately I am not making any kind of living with photography so a fantastic desk job is what waits for me every day, and the beginning of the year has been... well... one to forget.

Is it 2013 yet?!?

Guess it can only get better from here!

I'm so proud of my little brother that I have to share what he's been up to. Here is his most recent drum cover he is sharing with the world. He has been playing drums now for about 6 months (at most).

I think I am really most impressed because there is NO WAY I could ever do something like this. I may have rhythm, I may have played an instrument in high school, but to get my hands and feet to do 4 different things at once is impossible!!

Enjoy!

52 Weeks Challenge 2012

This is the official thread for our 52 Weeks Challenge of 2012! I will keep this thread up to date with the details of the basic rules and how to join in.

What
Every year we have 52 weeks. For every week of the year, the challenge is to take one photo (self-portraits encouraged) that describes your week. For some, this will include a caption of your photo's story, and any other tidbits of what you learned from that week's self-portrait

I love what a little golden hour light and a willing subject can produce.

This was a completely impromptu photo shoot. My wife and I were pulling into our driveway and there was this fabulous evening light. I ran inside, grabbed the camera (I know, I know. I should always have that with me!) and spent about 10 minutes firing off a few shots. I gotta say, I think I got more keepers out of this 10 min. session than I do during a 45 min session!

Handy camera + wonderful light + willing subject = Fantastic Photos!

My wife and I have been invited to go camping this weekend in Golden Gate Canyon State Park outside of Golden, CO. While I have lived in CO my whole life this would be my first visit to this park.

Anyone know of any "can't miss" or hidden gem locations I should check out?!

Sometimes, as a photographer, I am reminded that I am not creating beauty and art. I'm just there to borrow it and share it.
