Google has a nice  installation with a whole bunch of Chromebook Pixel's at  #io13   where you can touch the screens and make noise and colors with it - both of which propagates to other screens. But the real fun part it is: All the machines are actually not running Chrome OS but #Debian with #GNOME 3.4.2 as you can clearly see in the photo. Also nice: Spotting this immediately led to a discussion with two other guys about how to properly run Linux / GNOME3 on the Pixel ;)

Dopo l'aggornamento di Google+, aspettiamo impazienti anche #googlemaps  che sarà ancora più integrato con Google Earth (disponibile anche la visualizzazione globo e 3D). Una buona notizia per i linuxiani è che Google Earth in Maps non richiederà alcun componente aggiuntivo, cosa invece presente oggi nel plugin di Google Earth nel browser.

Un programmatore pubblica un torrent del suo stesso gioco (un simulatore di una società produttrice di videogiochi) volontariamente piratato. Nella sua versione, però, la società "virtuale" è destinata a fallire per pirateria.
Risultato: gli utenti con la versione piratata si lamentano sui vari forum dedicati della difficoltà e dell'avarizia degli "utenti" virtuali che piratano il gioco, senza rendersi conto di averlo fatto loro stessi nella realtà.

Microsoft Office 2013 continua a non essere compatibile con il Calendario Gregoriano, Standard ISO 8601, riconosciuto in tutto il mondo - compresa la Cina e i Paesi di religione musulmana, che hanno un loro calendario legato al culto - ma non a Redmond (dove hanno un calendario tutto loro...).
Questo significa che il cosiddetto "standard" OOXML, che sarebbe meglio chiamare in altro modo, visto che è frutto delle attività di lobby di Microsoft sia all'interno di ISO che all'interno dei comitati nazionali, non è stato ancora reso disponibile a oltre cinque anni di distanza dalla sua approvazione.
Microsoft, by the way, vorrebbe che OOXML venisse riconosciuto dall'Agenzia per l'Italia Digitale come criterio di valutazione per l'adozione del software da parte della pubblica amministrazione centrale e locale.

Made some more minor visual tweaks based on feedback from G+.

1) Using Ubuntu Monospace font
2) Using dark pastel color scheme
3) Font size based on number of pixels per grid unit (kind of a hack, but works)

Siamo sempre stati abituati a vedere il patos della gente muoversi per i prodotti Microsoft, Google o Apple, Linux era sempre un prodotto di nicchia che creava molto entusiasmo in pochi ma poca risonanza globale, vedere ieri su Google Plus come tema caldo del giorno in prima posizione l'annuncio dell'uscita della nuova Versione di Ubuntu non solo è un piacere ma mi fa pensare che Linux dopo tanti anni incomincia a prendere la strada giusta, ovviamente mi riferisco alla popolarità non alla qualità del prodotto che ritengo indiscutibile da parecchio tempo ormai.
