Above it All

I hiked all around the hills by the GGB in the early morning hours to get above the fog with absolutely no luck at all. The only other choice I really had was Mt Tamalpais.
I had only been here once be for, so I decided to take the 1.3 mile hike up the road to the first turn out. It was a nice hike but being out there at 0430h was weird as it was 75 degrees, way to warm (I thought my temp in car was wrong) as the morning progressed it got even warmer.

Daytime Hunting

The Hunt continues Part 8 (Daytime)
I spent the entire day in the Marin headlands shooting from way before Blue Hour to Blue Hour. I got more then just some sweet shots, also got a sweet sunburn (I look like a Lobster, some advise don't by cheap off brand sunscreen) the day involved 7.4 miles of hiking not a bad day and in the end completely wort it.

This was shot with 10stop ND8 & ND4 Grad at f22 ISO 50 at 100sec, edited in LR4, Silver Efex Pro 2

People that know me know that I rarely eat (Green or Healthy stuff) I have been making a bit of an afford though.
This is a nice healthy treat, its a Popsicle made out of Watermelon Juice and inside frozen are Kiwi slices, strawberry, cherry and peach, so refreshing on a hot day. (looks better in color) its a co-workers creation, and now we all are feening for them all the time.

Loving my new S4

Amongst all features on this device, the battery is one thing I'm extremely impressed with. I played with it all day and it still has some juice left, way better then I ever expected. +David Safanda I can not complain.

There are so many features, that I keep finding more and more. Already had a lot of fun with the remote as I kept driving my friend nuts by muting his tv and changing channels, just a bit harmless fun "LOL"

Morning Delight

While shooting in the early morning hours we noticed a thick haze with in less then 1 hour  from actual sunrise the fog formed and engulfed the #goldengatebridge

Sunrise Vandals and the Fog

Had a great but also extremely frustrating weekend, for once it was nothing work related.

The morning started with meeting +Tom Finale and +Rodrigo Alvarez  to shoot sunrise at the #goldengatebridge (Kirby Cove) at 0445h.
We had some fun times and I got soaked with in the first 20min of being there (o'well it felt good as it was already pretty warm), after shooting all morning and the fog engulfing the GGB we ended up hiking back up to Battery Spencer, only to find that my tire had been slasched (GRRRRRR) what the hell, maybe the Rangers are getting tired of seeing my car here.

To make thinks worse my tools did not fit the lug nuts, darn tire place, would not have helped anyway as the lug nuts were on so tight that it took 2 attempts of getting tools (one was broken to get it off) so we got a breaker bar and a 4 foot pipe as an extension... more »

Early Morning Drive

Last week was so warm, that I had a really tough time sleeping.

So Thursday night I decided I was going to take a drive and shoot sunrise "Somewhere" as I drove along the coast, I ended up at the windiest place in Northern California (with absolutely no wind) present.

Fist I want to say that It took me a few days to get this as I had to wait so that there is no traffic, (I have no problem wrecking myself but don't want to take anyone with me) this stretch is petty deserted and its 11miles of pure adrenalin, (hoping no CHP present, I did do drive by the entire stretch to make sure there was non posted anywhere) unfortunately this is not my home country where there is stretches of UNLIMITED

I miss the Berliner Ring :(

Sunset and the Palace

This was one of the images that I took during last's +Drink And Click™ SF on 04/30/2013 by the Palace of Fine Arts.
I took a lot of LE shots but this Image of only 22sec with a ND8 Grad worked the best.
Great time seeing everyone and meeting some new people.
This Image was edited with LR4 and Color Efex Pro 4 #nikcollection

The Break Trough

Sometimes it pays to sit and wait for minute
(in this case 45min),
Earlier in the morning met +David Safanda , hoping to shoot some fog, fog was to high and we decided to cut our loss and leave. I stopped at Battery Spencer and ran in to +Clint Sharp as he was heading back to his car. But he had to go to work and I still had 2 hours before I had to be there. I saw the sun trying to break through and decided why not and take a chance.

As it rises out of the Clouds

Decided to head up to Hawk Hill to meet +Doug Kaye to shoot the Full Moon rise over the City and GGB on 4/25/13, after short look at our apps to see where it would come up we decided for the small turn out before the top of hawk hill.
Always a lot of fun hanging out with the "Master of Knowledge"

I decided to try out my 85mm as it is a lot faster then any other lenses I own. I'm very happy with the shot as this is SOOC. Not much of a fan for post processing if I can help it.

Good Morning GGB Stalkers

Fog is outside the gate by about 200jards its lower then the deck

Not ideal conditions today as it looking to be sucked out.

Fog was covering deck at all night even when I left at 0230h

Tomorrow should be excellent (hopefully)

Spent more on Food then GAS

I had a fun time Sunday on a short but long day trip along the coast with +Swee Oh +Larry Nienkark and +Todd Draper .

I usually will get a a Sandwich, coffee and some snacks for a 18hour day of shooting and spend around $25. This time we spend that each just on breakfast (it was a good breakfast though)
We started with shooting pre blue hour by the Point Reyes Boat and then started driving up Hwy 1 along the coast, stopping at every little nook and cranny we saw an opportunity and ended the day with a pretty dismal sunset at Point Arena LGH.

I wandered of a few times and started hiking and climbing down the cliff sides, for this cliff I would have needed a rope though.

The Day ended having spent an average of $30 a person on gas and $65 a person on Food.
I just wish the tide chart would have been more accurate, less windy Oh... more »

You are Part of them Now

Life is short and I'm so glad I was able to share this Image with a very good friend of mine for the past 12years of being here in the US. She has helped me along in way and has helped a long in life in some of the most difficult situations that I have encountered.

She loved this image so and told me that she would be a star when ever she died (her favorite movie is the Lion King) . I had printed it for her 2 days after I shot it. She always made fun of me for being up all night and shooting the GGB, but when I showed her my end-results she was always in awe.

She was the kindest and realest person that I had ever met in my life, she was Russian Girl (I know I'm German she was Russian how does that work) it worked awesome and she had definitly a huge influence in shaping me in to the person I'm today.

Night's Sky SF

This image was taken back in March the morning +Guillaume Desachy finally go his bridge fog shot.
I was limited to 30sec as I had forgotten my remote.
But this still one of those shots that is rather unique even though I really wold have wished there was a bit of moon light so I would be able to capture the fog a bit better.

A Sad Day

It is not just a sad Day for Boston or the US but also for the Entire World. People come from all over the world to be part of the marathons, to be greeted at the finish line with two explosion is just.....

Both Flower and City are on the verge of a disaster that is still to come, The flowers are on a brittle cliff side and San Francisco is along the San Andreas Fault Line, both of them very unstable.

I got tricked

#fogmonster tricked me, I know I saw fog in the cams, sitting here at the GGB once again 0345h and the fog is only on SF side no where near the towers (argh)

But I will be optimistic , as things can change quickly (hopefully)

At a Standstill

There is a time in your life were everything around you is moving but you are at a standstill.
You are not really stuck but you are frozen in a moment of memories of the past as you are uncertain of what the future might hold for you.

One of my very close friends currently is at this stage in his life, as we his friends are part of his family I know that this is even harder on his wife and 2 kids. He is having some complications after having open heart surgery today and his rate of survival of another operation that is needed did not sound to good at all.
While I spent the entire day in the Hospital today and we all relived the good old times, but we rather look towards his recovery and new memories to come.
But the truth is hard to swallow and you might just not want to believe it.

Serenity

 While I was out Easter Weekend with +Joe Azure +Casey McCallister and +Michael Bonocore  along the Mendocino Coast at Bowling Ball Beach we got to experience what was the most colorful sunset that I have ever seen. I'm amazed what I saw on the back of my camera screen, this shot is almost SOOC, I did bump up the shadows and clarity just a little but that is it.

While I was standing with Joe in the water he made the perfect remark that  evening ("We are F'n the F-S out of this sunset) LOL he was so right.
Sometime you need to get wet feet to get the shot you want, or if you me end up even slipping and getting pretty much completely soaked, but I got the shot.

Relaxing

One of the best way's I know how to relax is to just get behind the wheel of my E30 and drive. I prefer driving along windy back roads, so the coast is always number one on my list. Especially as I know this road like the back of my hand and can push a bit ;)

 The Hill's Have Lights

Last Monday I took the opportunity and walked in the Marin Headlands in the afternoon above the Rainbow Tunnel to get some shots of the line up and the S Curve heading to the GGB, as last time I was hear I could here the cars but no see them as the fog was so thick from Fri to Sat. That being my first time here I took full advantage till I ran out of batteries.

Not much going on at GGB

Im sitting here just waiting, dog kept me up all night so I just came out here.

If it does happen with the fog it will be epic as there are clouds above currently.

Fog is on the SF side and there is fog in the bay and in Berkeley

So you never now, report was patchy fog along the coast and in bay, last time they said that it turned in to a morning we all missed.

Just a bit of a Teaser

This weekend I decided to drive up to Bowling Ball Beach for sunset and met up with +Joe Azure +Michael Bonocore and +Casey McCallister  as they were on there Mendo Trip.
It surely was some fun times and pretty much had our own work shop. Thank you Joe for all the helpful tips and tricks.

Sea of Fog and Clouds

The Hunt Part 7, so it continues,
I had never been here during the sunset while there is fog, this time i managed to get here in time. It was a short sunset because of getting swallowed by the fog but it was extraordinary. 
I was joined by none other then +Joe Azure and +Casey McCallister here on Slacker. Later as we where covered by the #fogmonster (Karl) as Joe calls him, two figure appeared in the fog coming from Slacker ridge. It was a half dead +Toby Harriman who was hiking with 40+ pounds of gear and +Jameson Savage (great to finally meet you)
