I've been racking the old brain trying to decide what share for this week's #sundaymusicmania  by +Matt Shalvatis  when the battery running out on my iPod while cycling today gave me the idea of this song, which was about half way through when it all went quiet.

Found my copy of the Editors first album while having a clear out.  Not played it for some time and they seem to have disappeared from my radar.  Mind you, I don't remember any songs off their second album so perhaps they just fizzled out. Any ideas what happened to them?

Been going through the Guardian Style Guide.  You wouldn't think it would be a great read but there are some gems in there.  Such as this...

dangling participles
(also known as hanging participles)

Avoid constructions such as "having died, they buried him"; the pitfalls are nicely highlighted in Mark Lawson's novel Going Out Live, in which a TV critic writes: "Dreary, repetitive and well past the sell-by date, I switched off the new series of Fleming Faces."

Another example, from a leading article: "Due out in January as a white paper, Ms Kelly may be unable to overcome Mr Blair's apparent determination to stick with A-levels ... "

And this particularly exotic dangling participle somehow found its way into the paper: "Though long-legged and possessing a lovely smile, gentleman journalists aren'tl... more »

Can't remember if I shared any good old English prog before for #sundaymusicmania   by +Matt Shalvatis , but you can have some today :-). This is IQ with an 11 minute song called Sacred Sound.  Shades of Genesis on this album.  If you like this you'll also love their album Frequency and possibly The Seventh House.

It's apparently the 40th Anniversary of Aladdin Sane and I'll admit that it's not one of my favourite albums, but I do like this particular song.  Shame about the video but at least the music comes over OK.

Been looking through my Sunday Music Mania posts and worked out a few things:

The Medieval Baebes are the most popular in terms of +1 closely followed by Rush and Fleetwood Mac.

Few people like Rival Sons (though why I have no idea)

and no-one seems to appreciate the off-beat quirky English stuff.

So what sort of music do you guys actually like?

For this week's #sundaymusicmania  by +Matt Shalvatis   I'm going for a bit of English weirdness knowing full-well that there aren't may people on Google+ who actually know anything about cricket.

Anyway, this song is all about that ball that Shane Warne decided was a good idea to bowl to Mike Gatting in 1993.  If you just search "ball of the century" you'll find out what it's all about.

In case you're interested the Duckworth-Lewis Method (which the band is named for) is a way of determining what the required score is if the game is held up, for example through bad weather.

Hoping for some help identifying this bird please.

It was very high in the tree canopy (which is why it's out of focus as it was a little too far away - this is heavily cropped).  The sun was shining a lot so the feathers might be more green than yellow.  In a secluded forested part of an urban park in #northwestuk  .  

It appeared slightly larger than a tit but not as large as a blackbird.  The RSPB bird identifier suggests birds like chiffchaf and great tits but I can't see any defined markings on the belly like on the pictures in the identifier.

Could really do with an identifier which looks up at the bird instead of side-on shots.

Any help gratefully received :-)
