Bethesda Terrace Stairs, NYC
In Central Park, in Manhattan, New York City, there is the Bethesda Terrace, one end of which is flanked twin grand stairs to connect two levels, and to provide a bridge for a street on the upper level. This is one of those twin staircases.

Fuzzy Wuzzy Moth Fly
Saw some of the people in my stream sharing for +Macro Monday and seeing this week's mini theme being about "fuzzy" things I immediately thought of this.
Moth flies, commonly found near damp places, such as drains and bathrooms have a very hairy fuzzy head.
This is a moth fly in the mirror. The dark background is because of the oblique angle of this flash illuminated shot (the light of the flash is reflected away).

Light as Rain
An abstract, minimalist in origin, thus a #ministract , or an attempt at it at least.
A simple image made by shooting rain falling in front of a street lamp. This is monochrome in origin (sodium vapor street lights emit an almost pure yellow light) and in processing (sepia toned, since I don't really like that much the yellow of sodium lamps).

The circles have been divided alphabetically to help give more exposure to people with fewer followers and shared at different times to help keep down the stream saturation.

It has been two weeks since I announced my intent to update my circle of the 500 most followed photographers on G+. I decided to do things a bit differently this time and so I'll share the top 1000. To build the circles and the list I enlisted the aid of +Bill Wood

Basilica of Our Lady of Guanajuato
(Four Photos)
The city of Guanajuato in central Mexico (capital of the state of Guanajuato) is a really beautiful city, full of colonial architecture and a unique street layout. Part of the sights that must be seen are the baroque churches, among them this one, the Cathedral of Guanajuato.
The first image shows the main altar and part of the ceiling and the ornate chandeliers.
The second shows a view towards the back of the central nave, with the Church Organ above the entrance.
The third shows a view of the central nave towards the altar.
The fourth shows the outside of the Church.
All are best seen full size (I even uploaded them without downsizing nor compression, so zooming would show more detail).
Shared for +SacredSunday™ though I'm not sure if it's still actively curated given that it's no... more »

Signs of the FIFA Confederations Cup (two photos)
Sign 1: FIFA VIP Bus Service
On a bus in front of the Hotel Atlante Plaza, Boa Viagem Neighborhood, Recife (Pernambuco state, Brasil). One of the national teams of Spain or Uruguay (no idea which, or if both) must be lodged at this hotel, as they are playing against each other as I post this at the new Pernambuco Arena in Recife.
Sign 2: *Menos Copa Mais Escola, chega de pão e circo"
Less Cup, More School, stop the bread and circus", a protest sign in an apartment building, in the very same street (Boa Viagem Avenue).

Fence with Unicorn-crowned Column
Three columns down (after the lamps) there's a lion. The two animals are part of the coat of arms of the United Kingdom.
This is the fence on the east side of Buckingham Palace, the London residence and offices of the British monarchy.
As befits London weather, it had rained before, and you can see the sky stil overcast in the background, luckily the sky cleared enough for the setting sun to illuminate this scene.

Construction Power
A construction crane, with clouds on the background and power lines on front, not much more to say about this really... is there a #fewwordsfriday theme? :-) (to go with wordless wednesday and #textlessthursday )
Maybe no such theme, but there is +Powerline Friday by +Natosha Davis
And there's +Cableicous by +Charles Strebor
And I like both themes, so here's my submission this week.

Don't Pet the Pennsylvanian Wasp
Somewhere in Pennsylvania, sometime last year, a wasp entered a restroom where there was a sign with a hand (something about hygiene? don't remember exactly). A not-so-young-anymore man with a camera was there, and saw a wasp on a hand as a photo opportunity.
That man was me (you weren't expecting me to say otherwise anyway, ;-) no?), and this was one of many times I'm glad to have my trusty Canon S95 with me (almost) all the time. You could say we're joined at the hip, as I usually carry it in a bag with belt loop.
Personal anecdotes aside, even on a +Buggy Friday petting wasps is not a good idea, OK? :-)
With thanks to +Ray Bilcliff, +Dorothy Pugh, +Sherry McBriar and +Victoria Etna for curating #buggyfriday

Orchard-Orb-Weaver - Leucauge venusta
These are tiny creatures, about 15mm across and easy to overlook, but they spin beautiful circular webs and look great when the sun hits them.

Monterrey Poniente
"Poniente" in Spanish means "west", but also "sunset" (e.g. "sol poniente" would translate as "setting sun"), so it fits as title, as this is a some minutes before the sun sets, and this is a view of the southwest part of Monterrey.
As I've written before, Monterrey, in northeast Mexico, is a sprawling conurbation with several municipalities forming a large metropolitan area, the third largest city in Mexico.
This view is from the lookout point of the Cerro del Obispado (Hill of the Bishop's Palace), which has a very large monumental flag on top (a view of which I posted not long ago to my Mexico album). Almost all of the city is surrounded by mountains providing some great landscapes, which I really miss in the topographically-challenged Recife where I am currently.
I was born in Monterrey ... more »
