The Earth... - wanna join me for a fun project?

So, I talked the great astronaut +Ron Garan into sending me some of his original photos that he took from the space station so that I could do some post-processing. He sent me a few, and this is the first result.

I shared it with him at breakfast here at #googleSXSW , and he was happy -- so we talked about a bigger project... getting a bunch of RAW files made available... I'm going to try to rope in +Mohamed Mansour and +Tom Van Waardhuizen to get a bunch of RAW files into the Google Cloud so a network of photographers can do some fun processing... are you interested?

I'd love to know how they handled waste on this mission, as it would be very tough to train dogs to use a space toilet. Truly amazing that that they lived through the 22 day mission.

+Ron Garan can claim many distinctions as he shared his experiences with us earthlings during his mission to the International Space Station - he was and still is the only human to use G+ in space, and for sure the most prolific Tweeter #FromSpace.

FREE NASA IPAD APP for Shuttle Ascent Imagery
This app is based off of the Ascent - Commemorating Shuttle the folks at Glenn put together last year.. Since the response to the video was overwhelming the Glenn folks worked up a iPad app version and are looking at several new commentary tracks for the DVD. We still are trying to figured out a way to release the DVD to the public, but once I get a copy of the new DVD I will be sure to share the videos on my youtube channel. The app is huge ( 640MB ) but I think you will enjoy the High Def views of the Shuttle like you have never seen before.

not sure about an Android version of the app it may depend on the response to the iPad version.

I'm auctioning off the needle-felted Hubble Servicing Mission 4, EVA 4, that I made for the NASA/Etsy Space Craft Competition. It was a finalist in the contest.
