A not so cool thing happened...

I tried to redeem my +American Airlines Admirals Club pass from +Klout today but the attendant would not let me bring Brittani in with me. (Rules are rules, I understand.) After assuring her that I just wanted to look around before my flight departed fifteen minutes later, she told me I should save it for another time when I am traveling alone.

Since I probably won't be flying before the pass expires I guess I won't ever get to check out the Admirals Club. Too bad.

Please Turn Off All Electronic Devices At This Time

Today is my first vacation of the year and we're flying to Charleston. One of the things that has always annoyed me is the prohibition from use of electronic devices during taxi, takeoff, approach and landing. For someone that travels frequently across the east coast, that doesn't leave us a lot of time to catch up on our reading or e-mail.

However, with the FAA/FCC quoting concern for "interference with navigational systems and radio communication" I find it silly that pilots are now allowed to use tablets for their charts instead of lugging around their paper equivalents.

How do you feel this morning?

For many families, today, tomorrow and the coming weeks and months will be very tough and painful. Apart from sending our thoughts, prayers and support, there isn't much we can do to change that.

However, for those of us not affected by yesterday's disaster, take this as a reminder for how well we have it. There are so many things in this world that we take for granted: from the vistas out our windows to the warm company of friends and family. Every day is amazing and we should do our best to make the best of everything and realize how lucky we all are...

I spoke with a recruiter over the weekend about a job. He thought it would be a great opportunity for me to meet the hiring manager and things that I would really identify with the company's culture. However, when he sent me the job description today, it pretty much tells me I'm not what they're looking for.

You have a professional career which eats up most of your time, family spread across the country, weekends filled with social engagements and a million things on your to-do list. Or maybe you just have too much going on and feel like you can’t get things under control.

The biggest desire for me is to keep control of my destiny and ensure that I am doing what I want to be doing for the rest of my life. I don’t want to be filing reports that no one will read. Google seems to be bringing us further apart...

Things like +Project Glass seem to be detaching us further and further from human interaction. While they might be bringing your gaze up from your lap and keeping you from fiddling with your Smartphone, what products will the future bring that make us engage more with our tangible friends and experiences?

Unless you live under a rock, you probably know that Google is a for profit company. Although its internal slogan is “don’t be evil” it still needs to make a buck to take care of its well-compensated employees.

Currently, Google operates on a paid-search and Internet-wide advertising model. By paying to have you ad appear in search results and on other websites, your business gets more exposure and Google lines its pockets.

However, as Google is expanding rapidly into smartphones (Android) and computer hardware (Chrome OS) as well as the forthcoming Google Glass (Augmented Reality) is it safe to assume that ad-based model is going to put enough cash in Google’s coffers to keep its investors happy?
