Yahoo Buying Tumblr for $1bn?

Winning over young users to Yahoo! has been a priority for +Marissa Mayer during her tenure as CEO, but so far its user base remains largely older. With Tumblr becoming more popular with teens than Facebook, an acquisition could immediately help turn things around for the fading tech giant, if they don't manage to kill it like they did Flickr. (Yahoo! does seem to love acquiring social networks that end with an 'r' preceded by a consonant, don't they?)

What do you think? Good idea, or a turkey trying to tie itself to an eagle?

Route your Hangouts messages to your Messaging app. Route Google Voice messages to Messaging app, too.  Throw the Messaging widget up on one of your screens. There's a phone & attachment icon there. Get all your SMS, MMS, GV SMS's, & Hangouts msgs in one place & call/text anybody from one app;-)

Awesome tip for the +Google+ team: Give us the option to route our Hangouts messages/convos to our Stream, as well as SMS msgs.

Give them their own card in the Stream rather than a separate chat box...

WOW! Hangouts can answer your calls! Normal voice calls will open up a hangout window.

The first pic is what you'll see on Google+ conversation list. The other is a notification I got via the Notification center (via Canary w/ Rich Notifications enabled), and it works well.

+Google    Okay, when SMS comes to Hangouts, how about also incorporating them into our G+ stream as well?   #Moar !
Everything in one place.  No need for a new app; just use G+ as the hub.  SMS, MMS, phone calls, phone contacts as well as G+ contacts, file sharing, Hangouts...

Google Hangouts: My review

Let me go on the record now & say I realize they'll most likely continue to integrate more into this, blah, blah, blah.... I get it.  I do. 
Here's the deal-e-o:  Why were all the Google communication apps being hyped as being finally unified into one, all encompassing app when it clearly is not all encompassing & unified?  
On my Nexus 4's dock I have a folder  that contains the Phone app, Messaging, Hangouts (Gtalk), Google Voice, & G+ Messenger.  All Hangouts is (as of 5/16/13) is a castrated version Google Talk.  What did it unify?
I give out my Google Voice # pretty much exclusively because that single number rings all my devices now matter which one I'm using at the moment.  Before, if I wanted to text someone I would either hit Messaging or Google Voice, 99% of the time being GV.  Didn'tuse GV t... more »

Okay. So apparently I got hyped up & it's merely a merging of Talk & G+ Messenger:/
Don't get me wrong; this is a great step in the right direction, but I really was expecting it to combined Voice, Messaging, & el telefono......................
Perhaps in future updates.....

In case you ever wondered what one looked like...
Here's what an E-911 control room typically looks like on the inside.  This isn't where I work, but is set up similar.  I'm not sure what the policy is about posting photos from inside ours, so I'm not going to risk getting into trouble.  
Anyway, you can easily see how many monitors are continuously feeding us info, from the broadcast channels, running tags/drivers licenses, individual City & County law enforcement/EMS/FD statuses, to mapping/location tracking.
Where I work, is actually a bunker built into the side of a hill with blast-proof windows & emergency generators that can keep us up & running in extreme emergencies for over a week or more.  Cameras around town also allow us to pop in to "put an eyeball on things".  Things are so much more sophisticated than I ever imagined before Ibega... more »
