It has been quite some time since I posted, and I'm not ready to be back yet...but...I need a bit of feedback and help. critiques welcomed and I'm struggling with an artistic title for this, so any thoughts there are welcome as well!

Escape to the moon

I have decided to take an indefinite break from social media. I will truly miss seeing so much wonderful work by those I follow and discover here on this great medium, but I am a bit lost when it comes to my own work right now and I need to clear my head. I don't know how long of a break this will be, but I hope I am not quite so quickly forgotten.  To those whom I have come to call friends, I will miss you most ~ your inspirational work, you humor, kind words and support, thank you.

Young Masai Girl

Life has been a bit crazy lately and I've been too stressed, feeling a bit frustrated and lacking motivation, so I went digging into my archives today looking for inspiration. This is a scanned image of a print I had taken in 1987; very close to the beginning of my start in photography but also close to when I, regrettably, walked away from it for a very long break. I often look back at this image and wonder what would have happened had I not veered off the path...

Seville Dam in the fog

So it only took me 13 days into the new year to finally take a day to go shoot...not a good start to the year photography wise. Yesterday was a gorgeous foggy day and it wasn't until well into the afternoon that the fog burned off.  One of my favorite spots in my old home town...

After much thought and some very helpful input from my friends here on G+, I have decided to post this image. My intent isn't to provoke, but rather bring to light a serious issue, to elicit emotions and discussion. When does Art cross the line??

I would love to hear from everyone on this... ~ Can art cross the line? I have an image. It's powerful, it's shocking, it turns my stomach, and not in a good way. But isn't art supposed to pull on the emotions, no matter how dark it may be? The subject matter in this case is suicide. When doing a shoot I love  to have the models participate and welcome their input. The model from my last shoot was aware of what I had for props and had something she wanted to do. In this particular case, it also says a great deal about my model's, well, troubles.  I will not show her this image for I most certainly don't want to "glamorize" this for her (she isn't on G+). So what would be my motive in showing it? To shock? No...but to most definitely stir emotions, incite conversation, to bring light on a dark subject. Tell me, what do yout... more »

Well, I've gone and done it...another social network. Joined Stipple today...sure many of you have heard of it already, it's been bouncing around here on G+. Sounds interesting, has some unique features...not sure what I think of it yet. Has the feel of Pinterest but has features important to photographers ~ the ability to track your image, stats, and beautifully displayed.  BUT, do I really have the time... phew ...guess I'll see :)
