uphill!
I took one like this before but the light yesterday looked nicer. This is the headland in Burleigh Heads. A path at the bottom (the ocean on one side and this hill on the other). I'll have to go back with a fisheye lens one day and try to get it all into one image.

Cable Organizer

Last weekend I decided to tackle my cable problem (drawers full of unsorted cables and adapters). So I made this "belt" that I have in my cupboard now. It holds the cables and adapters that used to fill up a whole drawer.

I used to do the toilet paper roll trick I found on +Lifehacker a while back (http://www.lifehacker.com.au/2011/05/neatly-store-loose-cables-with-a-diy-toilet-paper-tube-organiser/) but ended up messing up my drawer all the time. This is a new solution that neatly fits into my cupboard.

Maybe someone out there with DIY/Leatherwork skills might find this helpful...

NIK software upgrade

Does anyone know how the upgrade from an existing NIK bundle (LR + Aperture) to the Google version is supposed to work? I just installed the download, hoping that I can use my existing product keys but there's nowhere to enter them?! And the installation wiped my previous version so I'm currently without any +Nik Software (oh no!!!). Well, ok the 15 day trial still works

Was I supposed to get an email with upgrade instructions? Did anyone here go through the process?

I emailed support, but they'll probably take a while since everyone is probably upgrading.

I found one of the fonts I made on a website "in the wild". http://seaworld.com.au uses my AA Typewriter for their "Buy Tickets" button. I was excited to see it used there and had to double check because it did look familiar.

Using a ballpoint pen.

Started to practice this style of drawing the other night. I think this style would translate well into leather carvings because of the bold lines and minimal shading.
It's on the todo list!

A time-lapse movie of how I took apart my phone and replaced the home button. 

Got the button and basic tool set from http://www.ifixit.com and followed their guide, too. 

2 mistakes I did along the way: 
The LCD cable got stuck between the front panel and the frame but luckily I didn't damage the cable!
The camera didn't sit in its place properly when I tried to attach the back cover.

Both things are clearly noted in the #ifixit guides. I just rushed it a little bit too much when I put the phone back together.

This one's got an extra card slot and I think I'll make one of these for myself as well. Could come in handy even if my current one seems to work well with 2 slots.

Does anyone of you have tips on how to nicely align the letters when you use an alphabet stamp set? So far I'm pretty much guesstimating but surely there's a better way, right?

Esslingen Medieval Christmas Market

My favourite Christmas market in Germany so far. It's right next to the normal Christmas market and just beautiful.

travelling back in time

Used the Hungarian train system and took these 2 shots out of the back of the train leaving the station. It felt like I was witnessing something that happened during a time when people still used their pocket watch to check if their train was on time. Simply beautiful.
