The individual frames of a star trail shot on an Olympus OM-D put to the beat of a chillout song...with a bit of colour adjustment in Sony Vegas at the chorus. Each frame was a two minute exposure. The clouds appeared half way through the shoot and actually work well on individual shots but ruined my attempt at a full star trial photo.

My favourite shot of fungi to date. Do you think it has a cinematic feel? It was taken using a really old Canon 50mm macro attached to my Olympus OM-D. The forest floor was in the shade so I used a Manfrotto Maxima LED light to illuminate the fungi. This is with a few tiny tweaks how it came out of the camera.

Today's announcement of the Android powered Nikon compact - the S800C - is an interesting development. I hope it filters through into the compact system camera market pretty soon. An Olympus Pen with a Hipstamatic style processing app would be well cool! http://www.ephotozine.com/article/nikon-coolpix-s800c-android-digital-compact-camera-19929

I just uploaded a timelapse of a poppy using a Hahnel Giga T Pro II I've been testing. It's interesting to see how the flower appears and follows the natural light. Anyone else shoot timelapse photographs?

The frustration of social networks
I have been running a photography network site for 11 years ePHOTOzine.com. One of the main grumbles is the activity of the clickers and cliques. This is a name given to those who vote on each others pictures not always because they are good photos, but because the person they are voting on is a friend / followed person. I was hoping Google + may have found the answer, but a year on and it's just like all the other sites of this kind - if anything, because of circle sharing, it's worse.
I'd never really understood how the clique phenomenon could be so irritating to photographers, but here on G+ it can be really infectious. All the "check out this brilliant circle" or "look at this great photographer" posts. If you're not included, and you feel the photographers included are not as good as you it's easy to feel... more »

I've not seen too many butterflies so far this year - possibly due to the extreme changes in weather we seem to be having. Here's one I just spotted in my collection while keywording a back catalogue of photos using Lightroom.

If like me you post photos up as posts you may have, at some point, wanted to group the photos in themed albums and realised you couldn't. Well now you can. Here's how:
Click on the photos link on the side menu.
Click on From posts tab above your photos.
Click on and open the photo you want to move (they are in date order - with the date displayed as the album tltle)
Click on the More tab to the top right of the opened photo
Choose Organise album
Click on the photo you want to move (a red border appears around it)
Click on the Move tab
Click on the album you want to move it to (Or enter a new album title)
Click Move
Click done organising.
A slow process but the only way I could find to do it. If anyone has a better option please let me know :-)

I took a trip to the Isle of Skye two weeks ago and stayed in Elgol. The beach overlooks the magical Cuillin mountain range, and this is a popular viewpoint for photographers. Although I've not seen this interpretation before :-)

Lens wacking - you take the lens off and hold it just in front of the lens mount to introduce extra flare. I'm quite pleased with this result
