Shot above Iceland's Eastfjords, one of the more isolated parts of Iceland. We were driving from Hofn in the south eastern tip to Myvatn in the north, which meant driving along the fjords in the east, and then cutting into the mountains up some pretty hair-raising hairpin dirt tracks.
It's a stunning part of the country.

Godafoss, Iceland. After a 10 hour drive from south eastern Iceland through rain, snow, hail and sunshine, we finally arrived at Godafoss in the north. Sitting down to a well earned dinner, I saw that we were going to have a great sunset above the falls, so I ran the 10 minutes from the hotel to set up my tripod and camera.
It was a beautiful evening, and surprisingly I had the spot to myself. The only problem was the spray, but it was easy enough to shoot 2 second exposures.

The beach near the Jolulsarlon lagoon is where the icebergs that break off the Vatnajökull glacier eventually end up.
The drift from the lagoon out in the the sea, where they are washed back up onto the black volcanic beaches in all kinds of shapes and sizes.

Dettifoss in north eastern Iceland. It's been photographed a lot, but seeing it up close...hearing it, feeling it, is a truly awesome and humbling experience.
I took a number of different compositions of this place...it's possibly the hardest location I've ever shot. First of all it was hailing and windy, then the amount of spray produced by these falls (the largest by volume of water in Europe) is incredible. The air feels like liquid, and when you're shooting, it means that every time the lens is uncovered, it gets covered in drops of water. So after every exposure, there was a couple of minutes cleaning the lens and making sure there were no smears or drops of water.
Oh, and doing all this whilst standing less than a meter away from the drop with the incredible noise and power of the water just dominating everything.
I shot some longer, wider exposures, but the fast ... more »

Sunset at the lagoon of Jokulsarlon. The huge Vatnajökull glacier (the biggest icecap outside of the two poles) is in the background, and a branch of it comes down the valley here to the lagoon where icebergs calve off, float across the lagoon, and then eventually out to sea.
It's an amazing amazing place, I've never seen anything like it in my life. The sound of the ice creaking is astonishing.
The ice here is 1000 years old, apparently.

Ursa
Shot on a workshop I led on Saturday evening. We came across a couple of hundred percebes (goose neck barnacles) clinging to a plastic bottle.
There were a couple of kilos here....and they can sell for around €80 per kilo.
We left them in the ocean.

Waiting for the light patiently, friends around you, no sounds, just looking at the horizon for the sweet first day light, the fog and clouds combine together making what should look like an atmospheric combination.
Then the sun rises, golden hues, fog and reflecting light on the clouds, you hold your breath while looking through the viewfinder composing the image, it's the golden hour and a golden moment.

After a long time my personal photographic site is now ready, it is still in the process of getting updated and soon there will be also a service for purchasing prints through it.
The code is all written by me, and the platform (entirely photographic oriented) is commercially available (soon a website will be also launched for it) to any photographer interested.
You can visit it at the following link:

Haven't been active on the internet much recently, so apologies for missing people's work here on G+ hope everyone is good.
On the plus side, I'm finalizing plans for a pretty big photography trip in August to a place I've wanted to go to for a long time.
In the meantime, here's a shot from a trip to the Sahara last year. An overcast day at Erg Chebbi in Morocco.

The peak Strogoula (means round in Greek) at 2107m at Tzoumerka mountain of the Pindos mountain range. The backbone of Greece. This is the most accessible side of the peak unfortunately in winter the sun rises to its left and we don't get any alpenglow directly from this position. It does catch the light when the sun comes up but the clouds by then lose their colours. Covered with snow though is highly reflective so the hues in the sky are beaming across the land as well making it an awesome experience to be there. We were waiting for a windless day for two days and finally it happened coupled with some clouds.

It Grieves My Heart
The cold wind blew into my life, my adored.
A bleeding heart we share, now on Azrael's wings.
I fall like autumn rain...
You are my everything.
This lovelorn kiss of death in lugubrious silence
Dawn breaks open like a wound... and the dreadful sun
Two souls entwined together,
Still so alone.
Both you and I are shattered
And frozen in stone.

The Old Man of Storr
One of the UKs most famous photography locations, the Old Man is a collection of rocks on the Isle of Skye. It's a sunrise location, which means getting up around 4am, then hiking up in the cold and rain through the pine plantation next to the road, and then up below, past and finally above the Storr. From here, high winds and driving rain can make photography a little tricky.
This shot was actually taken in the afternoon when I was location hunting. I got up before dawn the following morning, made the hike up in the rain, mist and cold....waiting for two hours....but the rain never stopped, the mist never cleared and I just got very cold and wet without ever getting more than a brief glimpse of the Storr. So until I return, I'm left with just this shot, taken in flat afternoon light. Fortunately, it's the kind of location that looks dramatic in any... more »

Tuscany is a challenge yet a place full of photographic opportunities. I headed over there to combine my 2 passions, photography and motorcycles. It was a challenge for me after looking at the pictures of inspiring photographers, yet another obstacle, photography and motorcycles are a rough combination since you have to combine limited space (for your photographic equipment) and also the lust to explore the country on 2 wheels.
Nevertheless I really enjoyed the countryside of Tuscany, even after trying to wake up numerous days before the sunset to capture the magic light and the rolling hills.
The specific image was captured during the last afternoon, me and my friend (second motorcycle) where heading towards the hotel when the sun started fading behind the hills, it was the moment when I stopped, unmounted the tripod I was carrying on my back, and headed for a shot for the famous vine yards of... more »

Made some years ago now on my first ever visit to the fishermen's piers in Carrasquiera. Since then I've photographed them various times in different conditions but never once seen a sunset that comes close to this one. The piers now are almost gone, as time, tide and a lack of repair have taken their toll.

This shipwreck is very close to my home. I have visited once in the past and went again yesterday cause the conditions were right for the picture I wanted. You see it is located in a narrow straight between the island of Salamina and the mainland and the land at the back is a distraction most of the time. Yesterday morning though the humidity allowed me for an image where the land at the back was diffused in the early morning mist.
For the history fanatics this area here is where the battle of Salamina was fought between an Alliance of Greek city-states and the Persian Empire in September 480 BC

Cape Sounion
Sometimes when you are bored or you cannot escape the city there might be a hidden spot somewhere near you...
It was early spring when I was bored at home, due to work I had no chance to leave the city, I woke up and started processing a few pictures when I saw a promising sky from the window, I started looking for maybe a decent spot somewhere near where I could capture a few shots.
I came to this location (Cape Sounion) known for it's Historical value but ignored for maybe it's photographic opportunities, after some location scouting through google earth I found a nice isolated place where I could setup and have some fun with water and rocks.
The weather was cloudy but yet up to that moment sweet, a small breeze started sweeping the area while the sun was slowly setting to the horizon, a few minutes later the breeze transformed to a stronger wind which gave... more »

I have been editing some recent pictures this morning and came across this one which brought back memories of a "miserable" weather but apparently great fun for landscape photographers.
That particular day +Kostas Petrakis +George Reclos +Ιωσήφ Γαλανάκης and a few other good friends spend almost four hours in a constant heavy drizzle which occasionally turned into showers trying to find a decent shot so as we wouldn't be calling the morning a complete waste of time. The temptation to leave was great cause a glorious and hot breakfast was waiting for us back at the hotel by the fireplace a good three quarters of an hour drive away. But we stayed on and tried our best. It was very entertaining watching my companions trying to wipe their front glass with wipes that were wetter than the lake itself. I found a small shelter under this tree and now looking back at this shot I was trying ... more »

Rannoch Moor and "the most photographed tree in Scotland" on a crisp day in the Scottosh Highlands. I had awful weather for the 3 days I was in Glen Coe, and just had one luncthime and afternoon when the sky cleared. The light's a bit harsh, but it's the light I got at the time.
