Swipe down to refresh in Gmail

Did you know that you can swipe down in the Gmail App on Android and your inbox will be refreshed?
That's something I found out today by accident and don't want to keep it a secret ;)

As a follow up to my last post (goo.gl/z2m6R), here's my CSS hack for enhancing the highlighting of posts when browsing via keyboard shortcuts. It works for single as well as multi column layout although looks better in the first one.

If you wanna give it a go get either Stylish (goo.gl/RKjK5) or Stylebot (goo.gl/hTxba) and add the CSS data available via the link below.

I've also added some color coding:
○ grey = posts
○ green = share box
○ blue = general info boxes

There's also at least one bug:
○ when focusing the first posting on a profile page, G+ scrolls automatically to the top revealing  the profile banner instead.

About 14 years ago, I got a bad cold, and my voice became hoarse.  At the time I didn’t think much about it.  But my voice never fully recovered.  So I went to a doctor and was diagnosed with left vocal cord paralysis.  This is a nerve problem that causes your left vocal cord to not move properly.  Despite extensive examination, the doctors never identified a cause — though there was speculation of virus-based damage from my cold.  It is quite common in cases like these that a definitive cause is not found.

While this condition never really affected me — other than having a slightly weaker voice than normal which some people think sounded a little funny — it naturally raised questions in my mind about my second vocal cord.  But I was told that sequential paralysis of one vocal cord following another is extremely rare.

Google Apps Scripting

Here is a script which marks you archived emails automatically as read.
That's very useful but more interesting was for me how easy it is to create scripts for gmail.

To be honest, I never used that before. But this will change probably, since Google is giving us a lot of power on our emails with Apps Script.

Failure Management and Transparency

There was a problem with the API infrastructure two days ago and Google is talking very open about it.
Such things happen and it is great to see how fast Google got it solved (1h39m).

The alarm bells also rang on my phone since CircleCount stopped working and it was deep in the night here. The problem was fixed before I had finished my post to the Google+ Developers Community.
Now I know, next time I can stay in bed ;)
