About the Image
This is an image of the world-famous Metéora site – an amazing place where six monasteries have been built on top of bizarre rock formations. UNESCO has put this place onto the World Heritage List. The image is based on a 6-shot semi-autobracketing series with -3, -2, -1, 0, +1 and +2 EV.

About a month ago I had a little accident https://plus.google.com/u/0/110973272040036458313/posts/P8vLyG1mBUR I was pushed down by a huge wave while I was trying to take a photo, https://plus.google.com/u/0/110973272040036458313/posts/iFktcrhM4vL I had minor scratches all over my legs and hands since I landed on a rock trying to save my camera, all my gear was gone in seconds, my backpack was floating and I thought I had lost everything.
I took my gear to the shop with not much hope of saving anything. https://plus.google.com/u/0/110973272040036458313/posts/Fg6LxNqtehz The guy there is amazing, he was able to save almost everything, my film camera a Nikon f60 and my telephoto lens didn't make it, but my D90 and 3 more lenses are in good working conditions.

Our little group from +PhotoWalkPVR decided to do something fun and different (maybe not different as I am sure it has been done, but it was for our group) in honor of +Santiago Almada 's unfortunate accident :( ( https://plus.google.com/u/0/104866519156997639676/posts/aQFHtvb7in3 ) and did a Smartphone only #photowalk in #puertovallarta :)
it was short, it was different, but it was fun! and I have to admit, a little bit challenging, I know the gear does not make the photographer, but oh boy did I missed my gear! :P
the good news, is that +Santiago Almada 's gear was saved!, the bad news is its expensive! :( at about 400 USD he, as a full time student does not have the funds to pay for it, so all of his gear is still in the shop, I talked to him about making some kind of fund raise, asking for donations in exchange for HQ versions of one of his photos, what do you think ... more »

Lakes are found everywhere in the world...from the coldest places to the driest of the places. I have seen lakes form by the heavy rains in Death Valley and at top of the Icefields in Alaska. These stagnant bodies of water provide a photography endless opportunity to photograph....such as reflections as seen in the image from Beauty Creek in Jasper National Park.
I have arranged my album so that first 25 images showcase the beauty of the lakes from around the world.

Before the tragedy
Yesterday couple of friends and I went out shooting, we were hoping for a nice sunset on the beach, I was sitting on a rock taking this photo, the sea was calm but apparently a boat passed by not far away from where I was and a huge wave pushed me away. The rock where I was sitting was a bit high and there were a lot of sea urchins all around where I landed, lucky me I didn't land on any, my camera went deep into the water. I left my backpack in a "safe place" but the wave was very strong and went very far so all my gear was floating, I couldn't reach it. My friend Miguel jumped in the water to get my back pack but everything had been into the water for a while. I have everything drying at the moment using bags of rise, sadly I'm still hoping that any of my photo gear survives…

Hello G+ I need your help and advice, I haven't been very active in #photography lately, I'm visiting family and currently working on a school project so I can finally get my degree, (It's a book about photography and I'm very exited about it).
Yesterday I finally decided to get some dust off my camera and go out shooting, I'm in Phoenix Arizona at the moment so I went to South Mountain to check it out. It has this amazing view, I wanted to be everywhere at the same time, so I decided I want to go back again a couple times to be able to explore it well.
Anyway, I need your help and advice to get the most out this amazing view, I took this photo yesterday and I'm not very impressed with the results, it's not sharp at all even now that I applied some sharpness using Lightroom. how it went down
I was switching models and realized I should have one of just the scene. While they switched I had a little bit of time so I changed up my settings and was able to get one shot and then turn back to portrait settings.
Heck I wasn't even totally aware of the settings I was using... I just flung the aperture dial like crazy and clicked and then went back.
So between the final image of Danielle, the switching of subjects, this picture and the first image of Alycia was 46 seconds.

Shutter painting. Being a landscape painter as well as a photographer, I try to employ the same techniques in seascapes as I do on a real canvas. Although the only manipulation is done in camera using the right exposures and shutter speeds. The ocean is always moving so it's just a matter of watching closely and choosing the right shutter speed and getting the timing perfect.
Apart from composing the scene, I never look through the viewfinder. I find it is too restricting. A photographers real camera is his eyes. I stand to the side with a cable release and just zone into the movement of the surf and how the water interacts with it's surroundings. The camera is like another set of eyes, I take the the initial picture in my mind and the camera is just an extension that records it.

Experimenting with Bokehrama during a rainy day in Puerto Vallarta, I stitched together about 6 photos using my 35mm 1.8 lens, although it’s very hard to do it with this lens because of it’s lens distortion, it’s not impossible after fixing it with Lightroom. I can’t wait to get an affordable Samyang 85mm f/1.4 ( since the Nikon version is too expensive ) to keep experimenting with this technique.

Since I haven’t been out shooting for a while, I decided to practice photo editing, I looked up for old photos and I found this one that I took last year in London. I had already posted this image but I wanted to go back and start from scratch to see if I could improve my last editing job. With the help of Lightroom 4 and Photoshop CS6 I decided to experiment a bit mirroring the parliament into the Thames to make it look more interesting. I’m really happy of how it turned out, I feel like I could change my entire library. Maybe the new updated photo tools have a lot to do with the change, or maybe not ? ... let me know what you think, you can find the older version here flic.kr/p/9n7trA
