Laser Geodynamics Satellite I

The LAGEOS I (Laser Geodynamics Satellite) was developed and launched by the Marshall Space Flight Center on May 4, 1976 from Vandenberg Air Force Base, California. The two-foot diameter satellite orbited the Earth from pole to pole and measured the movements of the Earth's surface.

Expedition 29 has expanded to six crew members. NASA astronaut Dan Burbank and Russian cosmonauts Anton Shkaplerov and Anatoly Ivanishin docked the Soyuz TMA-22 spacecraft to the Poisk mini-research module at 12:24 a.m. EST Wednesday. They are scheduled to live in space until March.
