it's *WORLD IBD DAY* #WorldIBDday  
 i am here to bring awareness to all of you.  
Do you have any questions about my Crohn's Disease or any other IBD {Inflammatory Bowel Disease}?  
IBD is very different from IBS {Irritable Bowel Syndrome},
so please try not to get the two confused.
Millions of people all over the world are affected by this life crippling disease, it's time to get the word out so we can find a cure or at least get a little understanding as to what we go through on a daily basis.  I also want to thank all of you that have reached out to me and to others who struggle with similar issues.

My first time doing this project and I have failed. Every idea I had - I tried. None of them were anywhere close to acceptable. I am in a complete creative block on this.

For any photographers who want to share a single image as it is being uploaded to an album, below is a workaround for the bug while +Brian Matiash and friends work out the issue

1) Upload the image using the share button and whatever post you want. It will go into it's own album and show up under "Photos from Posts", but don't worry about that for now.

2) Open Picasa web albums (https://picasaweb.google.com/home) and go to the album that was just created with that image in it. The album will be named with today's date and have only that image in it. Once you are in the album, open the image itself.

3) Under 'Actions', select "Move to Another Album", click "OK", then "Choose an Existing Album". Pick the album that you want the image to show up in.

This will move the image and all associated +1s and... more »

Both frame and perp photos processed in LR. I used a simple overlay in PSE to get the effect. Then for a final B&W treatment I processed it in Nix Silver Efex Pro2.

"Bug Ferris Wheel"

Have you ever wanted to float away in a huge dandelion puff? Cast your cares aside and fly off to a better place? Well, what if you were a little blue bug and you just happened to be hanging out on a puff doing bug stuff and then this really mean person with a camera picked the dandelion and started blowing? :D Add a little rain into the mix and you get what happened here.

I know what you’re thinking. What’s the big deal about a bug wheel right? But I like the idea of a bug Ferris Wheel. Where little bugs can go to drink rain drops and make wishes :) and most importantly –fly! Who cares if it makes absolutely no sense.

Canon Flash Question

I am going to be taking photos at an indoor/outdoor party out of state. I need to get a second flash as I am not sure of how the lighting will be where I am taking the photos.

My current gear: Canon 60D and a Canon Speedlite 430 EX II

I was looking at getting the Canon Speedlite 600EX-RT and using it on camera (or off) to trigger my 430 EX II so that I can use two flashes at once. I know the 600 is overkill for my non-professional camera but I thought that if I ever upgrade my camera body then I won't have to purchase a new flash.

Question: Are the 600 and 430 compatible? My 60D triggers the 430 by using the flash. Will the camera also be able to trigger the 600? Will the 600 then trigger the 430. I can't find a conclusive answer anywhere. Sorry if this is basic but I'm frustrated because my event is coming up early... more »

When I saw this week's assignment I got all excited. I love food! But after trying to take a few photos of things I thought would look good in B&W, well, they didn't. One resembled a hairball and the other I can't even mention.
So I thought of things that were classically viewed in B&W and then tried to find a food-stuff to fit it. Here is my version of the yin-yang symbol in regular salt and Hawaiian black salt.

Gene brought trains back into my life.. and with his +TransportTuesday  theme he brought trains back to ALL of us on G+.  He just has done SOO much on here to bring all of us together.. beyond TT he runs the Canon Users’s group +Canon Users  . (I know right.. hands down one of the biggest groups on here) he has started and run a host of other themes including +PhotoSquared. and +Americana  HE came up with the brilliant idea for the #bestshot   competition. He helped me run +Halloween Town  and +Christmas Town He curated +Project 52 B&W and got me involved with the #blackandwhitephotography   and there is so much more I can’t even list it. Okay yes, it's a crappy photo... but that little ladybug was bound and determined to eat the, uh, whatever that was and was scooting along quickly (hard to focus that close) even while the 'greenish thingy' held its paw/arm/appendage up to stop him.

Did the ladybug succeed?

We will never know because I sneezed and poof they were both gone!

So, yeah... I didn't get my assignment done for the theme this week. I have been studying for finals for next week and totally lost track of time (sorry!).

I had a fleeting panic attack thought about how I won't get a vacation this year due to being back in school. I started to daydream about our trip last fall to Grand Cayman and remembered zipping around the ocean at 80mph on the Waverunner. It was one of the funnest things I've ever done in my entire life. I handed our guide my waterproof-baggy-covered Lumix and she snapped a few photos of the two of us taking turns 'driving'.

Smugmug Questions

a. How secure is the site? 
To get paid for photos, in my case, I would have to put in information I don't usually share with anyone (SSN). This makes me a bit nervous. Anyone have an experience with the payment portion and security of the site?
Is there a better/easier/safer way to get paid?
Should I get an EIN number?

b. How much is a standard 'mark up' on photos?
I am still a noob at this but I actually have two people wanting to do a session with their children. Yay! I am going to do a free session fee so that I can use the photos for promotional purposes. I told them that the only charge would be from what photos they select on my website.  I can always change it at a later time when/if I start charging for the actual sessions.

Wallflower:Not

The theme this week is "Flower". I am taking a creative leap on the theme, but when I shot this I knew I had to use it for this week. I will explain why...

I know that 'wallflower' can sometimes be thought as a derogatory term; in this respect, I mean it as the complete opposite.  I work with Jessica every day.  She is one of the kindest and sweetest people you could ever meet. I have been to several social functions with her as well and she has always seemed to be one of those shy individuals that could just cut loose if they were given the opportunity.
...Hence, "wallflower."
