Please sign and share this petition to get the word around that users are not happy with what EA is doing and they are losing money because of it.

When I, And millions of other people, buy a game that has a single-player experience. We expect it to work regardless of our connectivity to the internet, or quality of our connection. EA has made this impossible, so many people with an unstable connection will not even be able to play the game in the first place, let alone anyone who wants to play on the go/with no internet connection.

This petition is to let Electronic Arts (EA) know that they have lost several thousand customers because of their always-on DRM requirement in the new SimCity game.

Even though it is a mainly single-player game, users are required to be online at all times in order to play. Such an idea is ludicrous in a single player game and... more »

CISPA - It's back !

It was two months ago today that Aaron Swartz took his life, let's not forget.

As you know, last year CISPA was withdrawn after a very loud public outcry. Now the legislation is back again. Back without any modifications whatsoever. Is this democracy ?

Check out this awesome new thing!

So, the creators of this site have been super awesome enough to give me 50 Beta invites to give out to the community. It's still in the beginning stages of the project, so some major features are still rolling out.

Right now, you can add your dogs (all of them!) and a page will be set up for them with a gorgeous, full-screen image of them to go with it. This page has their stats, name, and breed on it along with all of their humans.

Dogs are included in their breed's "pack", which is like a lookbook for all the gorgeous puppies of that breed. In the future, breed packs will have a newsletter distributed to the humans in them.

So, how do you score one of these super-exclusive, awesome, limited edition, brand-spankin-new, beta invites? Drop your name down below, along with your dog's breed and... more »

There is not enough money to fund law enforcement in Oregon, so police are only responding to emergencies from 9am to 6pm on weekdays.

Imagine dialing 911 and the voice on the other hand says: Sorry. Due to budget cuts, no one can help you. Well, that's the reality for tens of thousands of people in rural Oregon. Many counties in the state have cut public safety budgets due to the loss of vital timber payments. That's money from the federal government paid to counties with large national forests - in other words, land that can't be taxed.

Why is it that sometimes when we need it most, sleep seems the most impossible?

Sometimes I just need to close my eyes and wake up in a different time.

Everything is better tomorrow, or so I hear. I'll let you know when I'm done being stuck in tonight.
Because when you don't sleep, today never seems to end. The constant blur of conversation and thought merges with sunrises and sunsets and becomes one long day from hell.

The NYPD Declares Martial Law in Brooklyn

"On the heels of three nights of protests over the police slaying of 16 year old Kimani Gray, the NYPD has turned the East Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn into a State of Exception, claiming emergency powers to suspend the constitutional guarantees of the citizenry.

The people regularly targeted by police harassment and violence, overwhelmingly the city’s poor and minority populations, have taken to the streets to speak out against the NYPD’s draconian tactics. The police have in turn responded with even further harsh measures by suppressing the right of the people to voice dissatisfaction with that very same police force.

Cops kettled protesters at Wednesday night’s candlelight vigil, resulting in 46 arrests. Police even arrested Kimani Gray’s distraught sister, Mahnefeh.

The NYPD euphemistically calls the public spaces in which the Constitutional rights of the people are suspended “frozen zones.”

Allison Kilkenny wrote about the NYPD’s so-called “frozen zones” in December 2011

“The ‘frozen zone’ is an arbitrary, official police business-sounding title that has absolutely zero legal merit. It’s something the NYPD made up, just as the ‘First Amendment zone’ is something [Los Angeles Mayor Antonio] Villaraigosa made up to suppress media coverage of the Occupy raids.”

According to FIERCE, the “frozen zone” in East Flatbush is being used to prevent media from covering the protests and arrests. Meanwhile, people inside the “frozen zone” can be subjected to arrest merely by exercising their constitutional rights."

For anyone interested, I also have a Tumblr. It's much less educated and professional and a lot more raw adolescent feelings. So if you're into that, feel free to take a look.

Also not always SFW.

Such an idea is ludicrous in a single player game and makes it impossible for many users to even consider playing because they can't be connected to the internet 100% of the time.

Those who did decide to buy it are already experiencing issues with the always-on DRM because EA's servers are unreliable, preventing them from playing the game that they have already paid for. ___

Well, I finished the state exam and I think I did alright. Will hear from them with the official results in about a week. At least now I can breathe easy and stop stressing about it.

State nursing exam today to decide if i'm officially qualified to be a Nursing Assistant. I don't think I've ever been this nervous about a test in my life.

I did it!

This morning, I officially passed my +American Red Cross final exam  to become a Licensed Nursing Assistant. One more test to take tomorrow morning, administered by the state, and then I will be issued my license.

"My church is for those of us who grew up wishing we believed in an afterlife."

I was raised in a very devoutly religious family, but I guess it never really "stuck". I always found myself wondering what everyone around me was feeling that I didn't. As a young child, I thought there was something broken or that maybe God just didn't like me, but when I grew up I realized that some people just aren't wired to be religious.

(Video is a poem I particularly like that kind of relates to religion and stuff.)

Sorry to all the people who have been following me for a while.

I had to take a short hiatus from the interwebs to finish schooling. Two more tests to take and I will officially be and LNA and will hopefully be posting much more frequently.

You're all beautiful people and thanks for sticking around.

Huge Victory - UN Recognizes Palestine

A few minutes ago, the UN voted overwhelmingly to recognise Palestine as the world's 194th state!!! It’s a huge victory for the Palestinian people, for peace, for our community, and people across the world are joining with massive crowds in Palestine to celebrate.

This image of the vote map is very interesting, countries with strong political ties to the U.S. generally abstained or voted no.

A little less than two years ago, when Internet access was cut off in Egypt, we worked with Twitter to launch Speak2Tweet, giving the ability for anyone to tweet using just a voice connection.

In the last day, Internet access has been completely cut off in Syria. Unfortunately we are hearing reports that mobile phones and landlines aren’t working properly either. But those who might be lucky enough to have a voice connection can still use Speak2Tweet by simply leaving a voicemail on one of these international phone numbers (+90 212 339 1447 or +30 21 1 198 2716 or +39 06 62207294 or +1 650 419 4196), and the service will tweet the message. No Internet connection is required, and people can listen to the messages by dialing the same phone numbers or going to twitter.com/speak2tweet.
