Thanks for inviting me to join!
This is one of my favorites, from a trip to Costa Rica a few years back.
This tiny little hummingbird really looked straight at me and posed for the shot :-) !

I had my first music fotoshoot with my new camera (60D) last weekend, putting the low-light capabilities to the test...
I'm happy with the results!
The band is Xclusive, a local band for which I've done several fotoshoots in the last few years.

I've treated myself to an upgrade to a new body (60D).
Very happy with the first results.
Focusing macroshots with liveview is just great...

We've had a bit of a cold spell here in the Netherlands, even the beach was frozen!

backyard robin
We're not expecting a white christmas this year, so I'd like to share this robin in the snow from last year's winter.

I've been saving this one for #MonochromeMonday, curated by +siddarth pandit .
On a trip through Borneo last year, we visited a few days with an Iban tribe.
These people live in longhouses in the middle of the jungle, hours of boat-travel by river from 'civilization'.
Even though only our local guide spoke English, they were very hospitable, friendly and fairly easy to make contact with.
I made a deal with our travel guide, to make prints of several photos I made of the people there and take them with her the next time she visited them.
They were very happy with the photos, apparently not many of the tourists manage to actually get prints back to their models...

This is my neighbor's cat playing with a feather. I was surprised at how well the shot worked out, considering I was holding the feather with one hand and my camera with the other...
Sadly, she died a few years ago at a ripe old age, but she was always making 'social calls' with us, a very sweet cat.

Monitor lizards fighting
Last year on a trip to Borneo, I watched a big group of monitor lizards fighting over food. As much as I liked the iguanas in Costa Rica, these monitor lizards were scary! As you can see, they were pretty aggressive, the poor guy in the middle really didn't have a good day.
I was glad to have a telelens and someone to watch my back, because these guys weren't playing nice!

Posing hummingbird
During a trip through Costa Rica, I was shooting all kinds of hummingbirds that had gathered around several feeders.
After a while I took the camera from my eye to just enjoy the show for a bit, and then this little fellow sat down about 2 meters from me.
I had a strong feeling he really wanted me to take his picture!

Monkeys in a puddle
Last year, in Bako National Park in Borneo, I sat and watched a whole bunch of young long-tailed Macaques playing in a big puddle of water.
They were just like little kids, climbing in a tree and jumping into the puddle.
I shot about 300 photo's in 15 minutes time...

This little dog was waiting for his owner who was having breakfast in the same restaurant as we were, his car was parked right outside.

Each year a big combined driving competition is hosted in my hometown.
This is an equestrian sport, with three phases: dressage, obstable cones and a cross-country marathon. Especially this last phase has it's spectacular moments, as the combinations have to navigate certain obstacle courses at as high a speed as they possibly can.
While this photo is far from technically perfect, somehow for me it shows the excitement and speed involved when a combination of a carriage and four ponies twist and turn through the obstacle course at high speed.

Last year I went on a trip to Borneo and I witnessed some amazing sunsets.
This was taken in Bako National Park.

Moment in Borneo
Last year during a river trip in Borneo, my husband captured this great moment, using a 'lowly' compact camera.
I was being paranoid about my DSLR getting wet, so it was safely stowed away in a waterproof bag...
Just shows that getting the right moment is often more important than carrying the "right" gear.
