Wishing the happiest of birthdays to one of the coolest, most knowledgeable, cleverly funny, and most sincere people out there.  He gives so much of his wisdom and time so generously to us here on G+.  The scavenger hunt is as awesome as it is because of him, and he encourages us all to experiment and play, to try new things, and reminds us that ultimately we all win if we have simply learned and improved.

I am late submitting last week's theme - I was on vacation and since the trip was to visit my 1 year old niece,  late nights and city lights weren't on the agenda.   But I did wander up to the late night magazine shop to do some browsing.

Got home yesterday from a short but awesome trip to Chicago.  
Went to visit with family but also met up with some wonderful folks from our G+ family too.  Chicago is a grand city full of wonderful people.

+Urban Snap is celebrating one year on G+ and is also bringing the game to a close.  As a way of marking both occasions, +Sam Breach and +Kristine Ward challenged all the #urbansnap  participants from the past year to post a photo that included 2 or more of the weekly themes from the past year.

This is going to be our cherry tree's third summer.  Our first crop yielded one cherry, split equally between +Graham Knights and myself.   Last year we harvested a whopping 5 cherries, 2 each plus one for the dog.  This year is shaping up to be a bumper crop...looks like we will definitely get into  double digits considering all the beautiful blossoms emerging right now.

Handy little helpers
I am a librarian.  I spent many years in school to do what I do.  It is very serious work involving authority control, MARC records, Boolean operators, and syndetic structure.  And also LEGO, crafts, songs, rhymes, hilarious stories, and of course finger puppets.  Meet my 5 handy little helpers.  These guys play a big role in the language and literacy development of young ones all around the globe.  So there you have it.  The phrase “seriously silly” is not necessarily an oxymoron!

With sunshine comes flowers.  And sneezing, and sneezing, and itchy eyes, and sneezing.  But look....we have flowers!!  And it stayed sunny for most of the day so I actually got to enjoy them.  Aaaaaa-chooooo!  (well, mostly enjoy them).

This year, the Canadian penny was singled out and deemed unworthy.  I have a a container where I am tossing all of mine...an isolation chamber for these senseless cents.  

I just was not able to make this penny sit upright...its last fight back I suppose.  And I tried my hardest to figure out how to mask, layer, rotate, and put it back together seamlessly like most of you are able to do...but I just couldn't figure it out.  I have so much to learn!

I was lucky enough to get to tag along on an epic overnight photo shoot at Mt. Baker with +Jake Johnson +Jacob Lucas +Keith Morgan +Julie Jamieson and +Graham Knights.  The stars were glorious and we stayed until sunrise before heading home and sleeping all day.  

This was a hard one to explain to the customs and immigration officials both crossing over into the USA and coming back home to Canada. They just don't get it!  

My lack of skills (I can't blame my old camera...it's all me) meant I didn't get very many good shots, but I tweaked what I got (heavily tweaked...forgive me) to get some that are pretty to look at.

Having the rule of thirds in mind on my photowalk this past weekend made me look at everything around me with a different perspective.  I'm sure I would have glanced right over these weeds normally, but when I crouched down and lined things up just so, and especially after converting it to black and white, I have ended up with something that I think I actually want to print and frame.  

I'm loving this project!

Down at the pier I couldn't get a shot without people getting in my way and messing up the shot.  So I ended up cropping out the pier altogether and I quite like the result!

Can you taste the rainbow?   I did...it's much more sickeningly sweet and artificial than I remember it being when I was a kid.  Yucky rainbow.
