It's seems each week there's another dreadful tragedy to absorb.
Thousands of posts stream by, each with their own handy hashtag, filled with pictures of the tragedy, and prayers for the victims.
 And then they stop.
Only to begin again for another senseless tragedy, because before you can fully come to grips with the one, another is plastered allover the news/screen.
 Some of them so close together it's hard to comprehend them being separate events.
I feel each and everyone like the death of a close friend.
I can't say, I don't know a single person involved in any of these tragedies  But I feel it. And it's exhausting. 
I don't want to hear anymore Is that horrible of me? It doesn't matter. I am done.

If I had a mom growing up, I would have been the child that ran out into the field and gathered the wildflowers for her. I would have presented them to her, wrapped in a wet paper towel, and tied with a hair tie. 
If I had had a mom, or  field with wild flowers for that matter.
But now, as an adult, I am fortunate enough to have both. 
+Susan Beattie , thank you for being more of a mom in the last ten years than I ever dreamed of.

After more than a week, this flu is on it's way out. I believe I will be feeling much better by the time the weekend rolls around.
I'm itching to get out and shoot. I just can't decide what to shoot. 
So, tell me my friends. What should I shoot? 
Sunrises/sunsets, plants/flowers, waterscapes, landscapes, things forgotten, or people?

***And thank you my friend for the copy of Photoshop. Perhaps now I can use the same software from start to finish instead of having to open the same image in 3 different programs before I have a finished product.

Once I got to know her she showed me her flaws

the same building on a rural backroad, taken a few minutes later in fading light showing the condition of the roof, swaying, and slow return to the earth.

I'm not sure yet what the building was, but it appears to maybe of had a porch. It is a little setback for a general store, but it might of been a home, plantation store or even a school or church over its lifetime.

There are an interesting combination of shutters and pane windows on it still today.

When a customer calls in to complain that the after hours line is not being answered and their messages are not being returned:

Do  Go to the person in charge of that phone and find out why. Said person may not be aware the phone is not functioning.

Don't Interpret it as a chance to tattle on the person in charge of that phone and ignore the fact that the phone doesn't work for anyone else either.

 On the rocky shores of Pine Island I waited, cold, wet, and tired. I had heard that this rare creature could be seen here, if you were patient, and quick to click. 
Suddenly, out the waves she flew, splashing in the surf. Her protective eyewear clutched in one hand her mane streaming out behind her. A strange sound drifted from her wide smile that sounded vaguely familiar.
In this extremely rare event, I had the joy of capturing, for all to see, the elusive species, Happy Teenager.

Few people know that +Chris Mallory  and +matthew rappaport joined  us in Indy for a HIRL this past weekend.
+Scott Cramer snapped this photo of Chris and Matt hanging out in the Sheraton Club Lounge just as +Kristi Fahlsing told Matt is was almost Chris's birthday. {apparently the date had slipped his mind as he appears a bit shocked}
A few other friendly faces were there too, All to wish Chris a Happy Birthday.

So after a long day that included flying to Indianna form Florida, going straight from the airport to the convention center, working the show until 6pm, we finally get to stop at the hotel to check in before dinner at 7:00.
"We had a maintenance issue that affected a number of rooms and since we were booked solid, there are no more rooms for you"
....crazyladybehindthedesksaidwhat?
Oh, but wait! You see, FDIC Exhibit(Fire Department Instructor Conference) is the largest annual fire show in the world. ALL of the hotels, near the convention center are also booked solid.
So they say, 'we will pay for your hotel night at the Wyndham. It's over by the airport.
We will call you a cab and pay your fare.
In the morning, you call a cab and take it back here, and we will pay that fare too.

It's been a long week.  _Yes I know it's only Wednesday_
I'm leaving tomorrow morning and I haven't even started to pack. 
I'm going straight from the airport to the Convention Center so won't even be able to check in at the hotel until the evening. 
A long day on Friday followed by a Baseball game we get to enjoy from the skybox.
On Saturday, after 5 or 6 hours at the convention center I'm set free and then it's
HIRL Time!

It  shimmers!
 I decided to splurge and purchase a Gallery Block of one of my photos.
I was intrigued because they were described as:
"Constructed as a single solid, yet hangable, wood box with a professional quality photographic print laminated over its hard frame."
I've always loved Canvas but the cost is a bit of a deterrent.
This 10X20 gallery block has my image laminated over wood. The finish is amazing as it seems to shimmer. The photo of it does not do it justice probably due to the shimmery surface.

Bottom line, if you are looking for a beautiful way to display a photo, I highly recommend Gallery Blocks from Nations Photolab.

The flowers and butterflies have been out for some time now here in Florida, though these are the first I've posted this spring. The butterflies all seem in a hurry, rarely pausing for more than a second before they are off to another bloom. 
I finally found a lazy one who let me take his picture.

Hot Topic Discussion Time - Cameras or No Cameras

With a possible suspect being identified in the Boston Marathon bombings, we've learned that this information is being made possible with help from security store cameras.

Question 1: To those who think cameras are too much "big brother", does this negate your argument?

Question 2: To those who advocate more cameras, do you think we should spend more money on cameras or more money on prevention to catch people rather than having to ID them after the fact.

No flaming allowed on this post.  This is just a discussion.

How odd

There are four Eeebox computers stored in the suitcase.
Each one is essentially identical to the others. 
The computer names are Show-001, Show-002, Show-003 and Show-004.( though you can't see this unitl you turn them on)
I unpacked the suitcase and placed each Eebox on the desk near the monitor setup.
Hooked the first one up, it just so happens to be Show-001, finished updating that one, so hooked the second one up, it's Show-002.
Third computer, can you guess? Yep. It's Show-003.
How the hell did that happen?
Again, there is no way I can tell these computers apart from one another while they are packed in a suitcase. I didn't line them up in any way when I placed them on the desk. I am certain whoever packed them had no idea what their computer names were for each one.

 Just a little odd, I think.

To celebrate +Charlie Hoover 's birthday we decided to give him, the host of Geek Question of the Day, the day off and all of us do the asking for a change. 
I'm not nearly as geeky as most of these guys so I had a hard time coming up with a question.

My question

Time travel is possible, with specific rules.
You can go back or forward but you can only jump an exact 25 years, to the second, in any one direction. You get a single round trip.

So if you went back 25 years and stayed for 5 days you could then come back {forward} 25 years but then you'd have missed 5 days of {current} time.

Would you go back first, then forward or forward  first, then back?
