I met this man on a road trip around Connemara, West Coast of Ireland, with friends. He was walking with his horse through the country and I couldn't but stop and ask him for a photo and why he was on the road with a horse. 

It turned out he was part of an institution that is trying to prevent suicide in Ireland, and he was on a walk along the complete west coast of Ireland, been walking since May and would be walking until mid October. 

His horse he used for carrying his stuff around, not for riding. He was travelling from town to town, talking to - sadly mostly young - people, listening to their problems. 

He said he had two reasons to do this. One historical: he would be the first man to walk the coast with a horse and this mission. And a personal: his daughter committed suicide at the end of 2010 and out of grief he tried to take his own life twice. First byinje... more »

Paris with Hasselblad and an accidental double exposure...went out yesterday trying to get some "wanted" double exposures, we'll see how that worked out. This here is a mix of Notre Dame doves and a seller on the antique market in Paris.

morning at zion national park, utah....just outside the park on zion mountain ranch (most beautiful place EVER!), go visit, go stay there, go see buffalos! oh man i miss it....

it was my photographer's dream come true to travel to utah and explore four canyons in antelope. owl, rattlesnake, upper, and lower antelope canyon. if you ever get there, go visit. it was a full day tour and i highly recommend it. but beware: its photographer warzone...a lot of smartassy, over equipped, arrogant, bullshitting lot you can meet there but we were lucky and had a super nice 4 people group and an awesome navajo guide....memo: closed in july/aug due to sudden thunderstorms in the area and danger of drowning in floods...

Sunrise in the Nepali Himalayas can be a hard act to capture. Because of the size and steepness of the peaks, and the fact that most villages are at the bottom of valleys, it's not unusual to not see the sun itself until after 10am or later.

Mong is a small village perched on a pass (or 'La') high enough and far enough from the neighboring mountains to allow for actual sunrise shots. Getting up early is almost always worth it and even more so when I knew my chances for another sunrise such as this were slim for the rest of the 20 day trek. The reward was this panorama, followed by basking in the warming sun.....followed by hot tea in the teahouse. Getting up early in the Himalayas also mean being cold. :)
