It's Time For Something Different

I hate the entire job search process.  Don't you? Putting together a resume that will get noticed is too difficult.  Searching through job banks takes too much time.  Putting your resume out on current job sites results in too much SPAM or worse bad job leads.  Because the best engineers usually have an OK job, this leads to inertia.  

You may think that this is just what it takes to find a job but that doesn't make any sense.  Ask any growing tech company and they will tell you they are desperate for the right talent.  If good engineering talent is in so much demand, why do engineers have to go through this tedious job search process?

I'm back!  Happy +FoodFriday!  This one goes out to +Bryan Hilliard who sent me a sweet reminder that I haven't posted in a long time :)

I met up with +Tiffany Henry and +Jenni Kraft for sushi in San Diego and I had the best Chirashi Bowl.  It was the chef's first day on the job so he gave me extra fish.  Everything was super fresh and tasty!

While driving Gadget to puppy play time, a familiar song came on the radio. Or so I thought.... I finally listened to Whitney Houston's Saving All My Love For You from start to finish. Did you know that it's a song about mistress crying out for her man to leave his family?

All this time, I only knew two lines: "So I'm saving all my love for you" and "Tonight is the night and I'm feeling so right..." So my impression of the song was very different.

Light Lunch Today! Looks like +ed chism and I had the same idea: load up on veggies! I made a quick and easy salad with spinach, button mushrooms, tomatoes, cucumber, red onions, strawberries, candied pecans, sunflower seeds and gorgonzola. I used a red wine and lime vinaigrette dressing.

Something Sweet This Way Comes
+Bao Ly's recent strawberry shortcake reminded me that I should go get some cake while it's strawberry season. I opted for a lighter cake by only eating a little bit of the butter cream. Since I'm saving myself so many calories, I feel justified to eat two slices tonight.

In the mood for an exotic appetizer?
Terrence and I went to our favorite sushi place last night. We ordered various sushi. Our top picks are hamachi, blue fin tuna and salmon. I had two orders of my favorite Japanese appetizer, Oyster Sundae. Take oysters on half shell, add salmon roe, caviar, green onions and ponzu sauce then top off with a quail egg. I know this sounds very exotic but the combination of flavors really work.

Another one pot meal for the entire day! Thanks to my friend, +Daniel Chen, I discovered there's such a wonderful thing as pickled bamboo in chili oil.

I made a quick beef stir fry with onions, tomatoes, red peppers and pickled bamboo and served it over a bed of brown rice.

The Results

Here is what +Liz Lui and I were able to come up with from the #laphotowalk . Like I said in my earlier post, scenic photography isn't really my thing but the beauty of a photowalk is that you can learn from the other photographers there. Some of them came out OK if I do say so myself :)

Looks like +Liz Lui and I are going to actually be one of the participants in +Trey Ratcliff 's hangout tonight at 7:30 p.m. http://live.twit.tv We will be talking about the photos we took and the experience of our first photowalk. So if you want to see the both of us talk about these photos and others make sure you tune in at 7:30.

Mama Kangaroo

+Terrence Lui and I attended our very first photo walk yesterday. We met a lot of fun and super friendly G plussers. One of my fave photographers, +Trey Ratcliff, was there. For those who don't know him, he is incredibly talented. I recommend checking out his photos on his stream.

More importantly, he's just an awesome guy. When I arrived, he recognized me and personally came up to shake my hand.

So why did I name this post "Mama Kangaroo"? As the sun set and the temperature dropped, Gadget started shivering. I spent most of the night carrying him under my sweat shirt :P
