NO! NO! This Chinese circus goat is NOT walking a tightrope! No, this goat is not then going to stand on four tiptoes and twirl! Humans who do this require a balance pole. Not the goat! Magnificent.

Today's Lesson
The SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program)/Food Stamp
Program, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is
pleased to be distributing the greatest amount of free meals and food
stamps ever.
Meanwhile, the National Park Service, administered by the U.S.
Department of the Interior, asks us to "Please Do Not Feed The
Animals." They say that this is because the animals may grow dependent
on handouts and not learn to take care of themselves.
Thus endeth today's lesson.
Pass it on.

When our politicians tend to apologize for our country's prior actions, here's a refresher on how some of our former patriots handled negative comments about
our country.
JFK'S
Secretary of State, Dean Rusk, was in France in the early 60's when
DeGaulle decided to pull out of NATO. DeGaulle said he wanted all US
military out of France as soon as possible.
Rusk responded,
"Does that include those who are buried here?"
DeGaulle did not respond.
You
could have heard a pin drop.
When in England ,
at a fairly large conference, Colin Powell was asked by the
Archbishop of Canterbury if our plans for Iraq were just an example of
'empire building' by George Bush.
He answered by saying,

My Selfish Ole Skool Generation
Checking out at the store, the young cashier suggested to the older woman, that she should bring her own grocery bags because plastic bags weren't good for the environment.
The woman apologized and explained, "We didn't have this green thing back in my earlier days."
The clerk responded, "That's our problem today. Your generation did not care enough to save our environment for future generations."
She was right -- our generation didn't have the green thing in its day.
Back then, we returned milk bottles, soda bottles and beer bottles to the store. The store sent them back to the plant to be washed and sterilized and refilled, so it could use the same bottles over and over. So they really were recycled. But we didn't have the green thing back in our day.
Grocery stores bagged our... more »

Everyone should take time to read this.
This is too true to be funny.
The next time you hear a politician use the
Word 'billion' in a casual manner, think about
whether you want the 'politicians' spending
YOUR tax money.
A billion is a difficult number to comprehend,
But one advertising agency did a good job of
Putting that figure into some perspective in
One of its releases.
A.
A billion seconds ago it was 1959.
B.
A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.
C.
A billion hours ago our ancestors were
living in the Stone Age.
D.
A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth on two feet.
E.
A billion dollars ago was only
8 hours and 20 minutes,
at the rate our government
is spending it.
While this thought is still fresh in our... more »

The person who calculated this bit of information is now and has been a professor at
The University of West Virginia in Morgantown for the last forty some years.
A clunker that travels 12,000 miles a year at 15 mpg uses 800 gallons of gas a year.
A vehicle that travels 12,000 miles a year at 25 mpg uses 480 gallons of gas a year.
So, the average Cash for Clunkers transaction will reduce gasoline consumption by 320 gallons per year.
The government claims 700,000 clunkers have been replaced so that's 224 million gallons saved per year.
That equates to a bit over 5 million barrels of oil.
5 million barrels is about 5 hours worth of US consumption.
More importantly, 5 million barrels of oil at $70 per barrel costs about $350 million dollars.
So, the government paid $3 billion of our tax dollars to save $350 million.
We spent $8.57 for every $1.00... more »

Subject: "What is it all about"?
A friend passed this along to me!
It just occurred to me... With all the noise the media is making about
> Romney's wealth, I don't recall such bluster and hand-wringing over the
> Kennedy fortune. Or, for that matter, John Kerry. Or the fact that John
> Kerry gave virtually nothing to charity while Romney gave something on the

>
> Oh. Wait. I just remembered. Romney is Republican.
> Kerry and the Kennedys are Democrats.
> Also, Romney worked for his money.
> Kennedy inherited his.
> And Kerry married his.

> Never mind. Nothing to see here folks. Move along.

A new low for the highest office in the nation!!! Is this what we really want from our President of the USA ? Is this not Racism at the highest level?
Seriously—REALLY SERIOUSLY—what do YOU think would have happened IF a Caucasian President had ever produced and published a You Tube Video for ALL WHITE PEOPLE to unite for a WHITE PRESIDENT…Seriously, what do you think would have happened…
In my opinion, this is the MOST SIGNIFICANT DEMONSTRATION of INTENTIONAL DIVISIVE RACISM by ANY PRESIDENT in the history of OUR COUNTRY that I recall having seen - THIS GOES OVER THE LINE FOR ME
*******************************
THIS IS A DANGEROUS VIDEO.

HDR Feature: The Marble Hall ( Details at bit.ly/fp-marble )
Photo page: [ bit.ly/fp-marble ] - Before-and-after: [ bit.ly/bna-marble ]
About Truth in Photography
For my photo post yesterday, I received the usual "That's fake!" comments. Whenever you post something and label it HDR you will get these. Here is my take on this:
Some people think that an image that comes straight out of the camera represents the scene as it was in reality, and that any manipulation (especially HDR) alters this reality in unacceptable ways. The same people keep telling you that the original scene cannot possibly have looked like your image even though they never saw the scene.
I always tend to be very careful with terms like truth and reality. First, due to several technical restrictions, a photo is only a projection of reality no matter... more »

Going back in the archives to share a personal fav for #bridgewednesday , #travelpanowednesday , and #widewednesdaypanorama .
This is the Bixby Bridge along California's Bug Sur costline. This image was created from 24 handheld portrait-oriented photos (3 rows by 8 columns). Of course that created a humongous canvas to work with so I had plenty or room to crop for the composition that I wanted to create.
I shot all 24 exposures manually in attempt of balancing the dynamic range as best as I could. I used Hugin to stitch this together and I think it did a fantastic job of blending the exposures across the overlapping frames.

Subj: Wall Street Journal sizes up Obama
There is always someone who can say it well. This article really lays
it out plainly.
Wall Street Journal sizes up Obama
Wall Street Journal sizes up Obama.....
A "deadly" article regarding Obama, at the Wall Street Journal, which
today is the most widely circulated newspaper in America .
Article from the Wall Street Journal - by Eddie Sessions:
"I have this theory about Barack Obama. I think he's led a kind of
make-believe life in which money was provided and doors were opened
because at some point early on somebody or some group (George Soros
anybody?) took a look at this tall, good looking, half-white,

To a Special Person
JUST TO LET YOU KNOW THAT IT'S CHRISTIAN PERSON WEEK AND YOU SHOULD SEND THIS TO ALL BEAUTIFUL CHRISTIAN PEOPLE.
When I say that 'I am a Christian', I am not shouting that 'I am clean living.
I'm whispering 'I was lost, but now I'm found and forgiven.'
When I say 'I am a Christian', I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble and need Christ to be my guide.
When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak and need His strength to carry on.
When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed and need God to clean my mess.
When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not claiming to be perfect.
My flaws are far... more »
