Ran up to TDH Thursday night to catch sunset, in my excite I miscalculated the length of time I would need to reach the top, so I had a few hours to enjoy the view, watch a movie on my phone and enjoy the beauty of nature. Sunset was amazing, sadly it was more amazing in all the wrong places, like behind me! The hike down in the dark is always fun with my mind running wild with the what ifs...

Want to avoid the weekend crowds in the Columbia River Gorge, but still enjoy the lush greens and refreshment of a waterfall. So Annette and I made the easy decent down to Spirit Falls, which of course turns into a intense leg burn on the way out! I am always amazed at the pure beauty of the turquoise water and power of this falls.

Had lots of free time this weekend and wanted to immerse myself in the beauty of the Northwest to refresh my mind. Ended up hitting the trail to Triple Falls and making the decent down to base to really feel the power and spray of the falls. The overspray does make it difficult to get clear pictures, but with patience and the wipe lens shot technique, I got a few keepers.

Finally made the short bushwhack to Upper Bridal Veil Falls, I have been wanting to see this massive 100 ft falls for sometime now. Even though it's not the best season interms of lush green surrounding foliage, I still enjoy the thundering sounds and cool mist. 

The wet lose soil made the descent pretty much a slip and slide, expediting the time required to make it to the base of the falls, which of course had the opposite effect trying to make it back up the steep slippery hillside in the pouring down rain. Truly a fantastic way to de-stress and enjoy my Saturday morning.

Played around a bit at Lucia Falls over the weekend. I have a hardtime really capturing the essence of this falls, and the true image I see in my head continues to elude me. The rocks surrounding this falls are some of the slipperiest I have ever unintentionally danced across to, so there is never a dull moment visiting this area.

Wahcella Falls is one of my biggest influences for getting into landscape photography. It’s beauty and power just pulled me in from the very first time I made the quick, yet beautiful hike to this gorgeous two-tier water feature. Yesterday hearing a small winter storm cell was covering the gorge with snow and ice I headed out to capture this beauty wearing her winter’s coat. 

The path was snow covered and peaceful, but under the snow was a very firm layer of ice, creating a slippery walk. I was wearing my yak-tracks, but still managed to slip and fall several times, eventually making it to the falls. A look at one of my favorite power-house falls, Koosah Falls. This 65 footer bellows out a huge mist cloud as it pours itself into a beautiful turquoise splash pool. The current is also pretty swift in this area and took my down ripping my waders as I searched out compostions.

Lemolo Falls the tallest and most powerful waterfall along the North Umpqua River. This monster falls drops 165 feet over a basalt cliff wall into a large pool and is a true beauty to stand in front of. The only downside to this location was the incredible amount of mosquitoes that were relentless on the hike in.

Was able to sneak away for a little waterfall adventure over the weekend and paid a visit to Panther Creek Falls. This falls is just an amazing wall of water engulfed in rich green moss! The powerful mist was refreshing but made it nearly impossible to keep the lens dry.
