I was walking on the beach line of the Mambo Beach when I saw a man throwing out a fishing net, presumably trying to catch some small fish or crabs. A few meters in front of him were a group of Dutch ladies who were having some swimming fun ... all giggling and chatting. They did not mind nor were disturb by the fisherman attempts. But the photo that I took of this particular view .. it seems like the fisherman is trying to catch the school tourists in the water. "Catching Tourists", "Fishing for Dutch mermaids", "This is how they catch their tourists here in Curaçao". Who can come up with another (funny) text?

I have started creating posters/background images of my Madeira photos. I just ask my followers/circle friends to think of a suitable text/caption. I then choose the best one and add it into the image (including their name).

Missas do Parto (Childbirth Masses) in Madeira Island
 
Childbirth Masses takes place in Christmas season, and it starts today (16.12.2012). This masses take place in most of  the churches here on Madeira ... nine days before Christmas. It's a celebration of the pregnancy of the Virgin Mary which finishes on the 24th December with the midnight mass (Missa do Galo). Each of the nine days represent one month of the pregnancy.

Hi, I'm a combination of unique blend of Caribbean liqueur and Portuguese fortified wine ... however with a Dutch label. I'm also a Webstrat, Altruist and Photographer. My photo-model and muse lives in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean ... her name is "Madeira".

I use a Nikon D100 with a AF-S DX Zoom-NIKKOR 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G ED. Unfortunately the Auto-focus does not work and so I have to take all my pictures using the manual focus. On the other hand taking pictures with manual focus makes it more exciting ... like driving a car manual instead of using a automatic transmission ;)

Shutter speed 1/40 ... Aperture f22 ... all manual and a very fast wrist to zoom in. Difficult but nice effect ... and no Photoshop required. :)

Just one thing ... I had to put my left hand wrist on ice afterwards :(

Cais da Ponta do Sol (Ponta do Sol Pier) was built in 1848 to 1850. There is a unique arch-bridge in basalt connecting the pier, that was built on the nearby rocks, to the shore. The 'cais' is an ex-libris of Ponta do Sol, Madeira Island.
