Seeing how good portrait images look in the stream, I don't shoot many, this worked as a portrait quite well at the time just because of the scale.
The first time i visited this waterfall the weather was terrible, hammering it down with rain, though it didn't stop this little girl from getting up close to take her shot... Shot hand held for just under quarter of a second, as much as I could do while still keeping some kind of sharpness. To all the people who have already visited here, yeah I removed the little rope barrier... :-)

I think this rickshaw driver deserves his name. We just started a little tour through the old quarter of Hanoi when it started to pour down...I mean...in one moment you get grilled by the sun and all of a sudden the sky opens its gates. As quick as the weather changed my driver found his "rain cape" and an additional one to protect me and my camera equipment.
Being a rickshaw driver is a hard job. I tried to talk a bit with him....just got to know that he's got a wife and 2 kids he has to feed. 1 hour rickshaw in Hanoi costs about 10.000 to 30.000 dong. Well, if you fight for a fair price. I've heard a lot of tourists get ripped off and pay about 60.000....damn!!....that's about 2€!!! :-)

motorbikes.

I'm back :-))

After a 11h flight to HCMC, some waiting for my visa....and then trying to catch another 2 hours flight to Hanoi where my journey at least started. The first impression i got was the feeling to be surrounded by millions of motorbikes that all drive like nuts without any kind of system. There are about 92 million habitants in Vietnam....and about 1/3 owns a motorbike.
Before i left i watched some youTube Videos with instructions how to cross a street in Vietnam. I laughed about them silly tourists....just until i was standing in front of a street and wondered how to get over it. "Don't wait for them to stop for you. You're the weakest animal in the city jungle....just go over the street....slowly, don't stop, don't change the speed and just have a look that no bus or car is near....go....just go....and hope that everyone finds a... more »

This is my magic tree. Discovered way behind our house and visited many, many times as the kids grew up. It has become my special wishing place and I have taken to visiting it on my birthday. Now, today is that day, but first I wanted to say thank you to everyone here... for you are all the best present I could imagine. You have provided support and encouragement, learning and laughter. You've let me be inspring. And inspired. You've all allowed me to share what I love and cherish and that is the greatest gift of all.
