I was trying to convey the feeling of depth in this shot. I was impressed how the sun played with colors in the rocks, as well as the shadows.

I just got home with my D3 and was trying to learn all the functions of this new toy... camera in hand I went to the mail box to get the mail and saw this butterfly just posing for me. I was able to get my desired focus on him snapped this shot and just like that he was gone. It was at this time I decided to take a camera with me everywhere... You never know what you might miss if you don't.

A nice spot for a break. I took this in Florida and you could hear the waves crash on the beach from this bench. This was one of my earliest attempts at using HDR.
