JONATHAN CHRISTOPHER KENDALL   (1962-2013)

With the greatest of sorrow I, +su ann lim , have to inform you that Jonathan Christopher Kendall, my fiancé and love of my life, died suddenly last night on 15 June 2013.  Despite the incredible efforts of our friends +Suzanne Jacob +Gaynal Brierley , paramedics and ambulance personnel he could not be revived.

Jonathan lived as he believed, telling it like it is, with wit and humour, enjoying life to the hilt, with honour, directness and compassion.  I was incredibly blessed to be the recipient of his immense love, and as each other's beloved, to share unbelievable happiness for too short a time.   Jonathan, I LOVE YOU with all my heart and miss you desperately.

I can't remember if I weighed 170 or 180 when I moved to Taiwan. I haven't had a reliable scale at home and I haven't been sick enough to go to the doctor. But today I have a health checkup in order to renew my ARC and found out I weigh 150 now. So, I've either lost 20 pounds or 30 pounds… Either way, I'm pumped!

So, 95% of the time I love Kinmen and the Kinmenese people, but there is a 5% where I just want to scream and hit them. Here's 2 recent examples.

A 9th-about-to-be-10th grader was supposed to go on a trip my cram school is hosting for about a month to a language school in Sidney, Austraulia. He and his parents were gung-ho about it. Found out this morning that he's not going. Why? His grandmother thinks it's too dangerous.

I got cussed out in both English and Chinese this weekend when a dad came to pick up someone from a beach party and found out we were swimming after dark. He thought we would be drowned by a water ghost. I wish I was kidding.

[my favorite CD] #cpop 中華編

These CDs are my Chinese music collection, which are mostly produced by Taiwanese. A famous music SNS, Last.fm suggested me these artists and I tried them. They are all good!
These are just some of the CD I've collected.

The album of 林強 (Lim Giong) is an electric instrument one without songs (some narration added). He is well known as the first Taiwanese artist who made songs in their own language. (usually they write lyrics in standard Chinese) I don't hear his news lately. I wonder when the new album would be out... +wayne sun

Living for Him is our first purpose, His pleasure. His enjoyment. By worshipping Him we bring Him pleasure... It's more than music ... It is every part of a church service ... Greeting, singing, confession, reading, tithing, baptism, etc. Every part is for Him. It is not for our benefit, I have stated before whether I got anything out of the service, that means I was worshipping for the wrong reasons. Worship should be our life not a part of it. As The Bible states ,"do it ALL for the glory of God"
Real worship is related to falling in love with Jesus. Like we do with spouses... Thinking of them all the time. Perform an act of dedicating thoughts and time on Him.

Memorial Day: We won't always be remembered and that's OK

Although I'm immensely grateful to our military and veterans, they do seem to get a lot of attention today, so I'm going to be ornery and tell you about some non-veterans I'm remembering today.

Ardath Johnson was my family's piano teacher for over 10 years. She could play so beautifully and with such feeling. She was a painter and world traveler. She had heard William Sousa live and gone to concerts in Vienna. Amarillo, TX had (I hope has. It's been a few years) a flourishing, talented, and rich musical community and among that community she was revered. She poured her life into her students. She was more of a grandmother to me than my genetic ones. When we moved away we corresponded for years. Ran into a student last night, name of Tom. His left arm was covered in cuts. It's so heart breaking.

It did lead to a good time of prayer with +Samuel Bavido and +Jarita Bavido . We finished by reading some Psalms. Psalms 85 and 55 were especially good.
