More of a collection of interview data, but still interesting. The conclusions are unsurprising: For #Fibromyalgia patients to stay employed, they need certain accommodations, and support.
Results: Four categories were identified describing factors promoting sustainable work: the meaning of work and individual strategies were individual promoters while a favourable work environment and social support outside work were environmental promoters. The meaning of work included individual meaning and social meaning. The individual strategies included handling symptoms, the work day and long-term work life. A favourable work environment included the physical and psychosocial work environment. Social support outside work included societal and private social supports.

Fibromyalgia and pain management strategies. Not an open access article, unfortunately, but the conclusions seem clear: patients who are using physical exercise, physical therapy and cold treatment have better pain management scores.
_"Results: The most frequently reported pain management strategies were physical exercise (54%), physical therapy (32%) and cold treatment (27%). The use of active pain management strategies, BDI IA < 10 points and age were independent predictors of the reported pain management efficacy. Patients who used active pain management strategies reported better efficacy with the BDI IA score ≥ 10 points.
Conclusion: Active pain management strategies are most efficacious for fibromyalgia patients, regardless of the severity of fibromyalgia or optional comorbid depression."_

Most climate change discussion focuses on the warmth of the air, but around one-quarter of the carbon dioxide we release into the atmosphere dissolves into the ocean. I think he's too nice.
The first time I saw a course in homeopathic first aid, I swear I thought it was the Mitchell & Webb thing as a spoof. But it wasn't. It was the Soil Association in the UK. It was a real course they offered.
This is even worse. Taking advantage of people who might not have access to the real information about homeopathy is despicable.

What are your weekend plans? We actually have plans tomorrow to double date with another couple and see the new Star Trek Movie! She hired a sitter and everything! I'll have to endure the 3D showing, but I expect it will be so exciting I won't notice it much.

Blueprints of Flowers
The worlds of architecture and scientific illustration collided when Macoto Murayama was studying at Miyagi University in Japan. In a project he calls “Inorganic flora,” the 29-year-old Japanese artist diagrams flowers. He buys his specimens—sweetpeas (Lathyrus odoratus L. , Asiatic dayflowers (Commelina communis L.) and sulfur cosmos (Cosmos sulphureus Cav.), to name a few—from flower stands or collects them from the roadside.
Murayama carefully dissects each flower, removing its petals, anther, stigma and ovaries with a scalpel. He studies the separate parts of the flower under a magnifying glass and then sketches and photographs them.

Soooo I don't know what the everloving fuck I was thinking 2 months ago when I volunteered to help with Field Day at Kayleigh's school today.
Field Day: a day of playground games and tests of speed, agility, jumping, hopping, and general silliness.
I am still at the mercy of the pollen and not feeling great. BUT this is pretty much the last year she will do stuff like this, so I will go and bring my camera and sunscreen and hope for the best.
If you don't hear from me tonight, I died nobly on the Field of Trials, and should be remembered as The Mother Who Should Have Known Better.

A nucleosome is the basic unit of DNA packaging in eukaryotes, consisting of a segment of DNA wound in sequence around four histone protein cores. This structure is often compared to thread wrapped around a spool.

OMG- I thought I was ready for the pollen today- I took my allergy medications, I did my sinus rinse, put in the allergy eye drops.... Went to go walk Beau, and a neighbor started mowing the lawn and BAM!
