A little tip to my fellow artists, give the sketch, sketches, away to the
buyer / client / patron, with the sold finished piece, good PR.
Clients can see the A to the B.
They will come back for more.
Ach, who am I to tell you this, compared to all of you I'm a fucking amateur,
see? I'm good in PR.
Have to slow down now, have to return to my work, this platform is so BLOODY HELL addictive:-) Where have you heard that before?
Will post in a couple days an finished RISK board.

STAGED UPRISINGS
Chris Berg
Oil On Canvas
This is the 6th & final installment of my ZONE5300 comic magazine interview posting series, so hereby the piece de la resistance.
This is from a theme I used a lot since day one, I must have painted like 10 versions in oil and a couple in acrylic.
The rockstar.
The painting has little symbolic references left and right, but the main ingredient could be the audience left bottom, without them he could fall pretty deep.
So thank you for being my audience for this posting series,
This Dutch comic magazine interview was pretty important for me, not only because I did their very first cover all those years ago, which became a semi legendary one,
but also from that little package of interviews I had throughout my life, this... more »

Harry the Intergalactic Milkman
Chris Berg
ink on paper CHICAGO
This comic's main theme deals with the genetic engineered Bio-industry
How we keep fucking with good old mama earth, for the good and bad.
Creating square tomatoes for easier distribution, the Hormone question.
MONSANTO screwing farmers over. Pesticide that takes on a horror movie ambiance. etc etc etc.
Scene from the comic.
Aliens arrive at an earth that's blocking their trading route, and if we cannot offer one thing that's pure and use-full, earth is going to get it.
The American government chooses MILK, after the aliens refused the initial offered OIL, what is more innocent than milk, babies grow up on that shit.
Harry, a milk delivery dude, our protagonist... more »

For all my DUTCH speaking fellow Googelurs, if you click on the link you can read the FULL UNCUT UNCENSORED version of my interview with comic magazine ZONE 5300, some cool pictures, photo's and even included some of my G+ illustrations.
The interview was done by my good friend +Robin Schouten who published in the 90s his own comic magazine 'INCOGNITO' which was my very first platform to experiment with the comic medium, one of the comics I published in that mag was my comic 'HARRY THE INTERGALACTIC MILKMAN' co written by my buddy Bram Spits.
Small extract from interview;
Nederland begon een beetje te klein te worden voor mij. Gevangen in dat kleine, natte kut-kikkerlandje was ik klaar om verder te 'vluchten'.
Het deed Van Gogh ook heel... more »

This is the photo they used in the Zone 5300 100th issue interview.
Customized RISK board games.
I repaint these boards, for clients, at the end nothing on the board is original anymore, these are boards no 5 and 6.
This all is a long story with a little semi cool past, why and how.
Skull, cannons, explosions, all sort of small illustration work,
the water is over the top in a organic flow, hand-lettered country names, even the border is painted over.
If i do a board for someone they can have their own choice of country names, it becomes more personal for the player.
I even adjust the theme on the board itself, like if someone loves WW2 or the Napoleon era, or even Lord Of The Rings, whatever, nothing is too crazy.
When finished it's a real painting, super 3D and... more »

Cover 1994
The very first cover of that magazine, I did, yours truly..
I know I shared this before, but to make an awesome story fuller.
This cover was made in clay placed in a cardboard box turned up-side down, hanged with wallpaper from an puppet-house shop, the floor is done out of ice lolly sticks and the carpet is a piece from a old trouser. All by hand!
Cheers my fellow GOOGELONIERS!

Anniversary issue # 100
Rotterdam Holland Comic magazine
Just to show you got a SEMI rock-star in your midst;
I did the cover for their very first issue many, many years ago,
and in this issue I have been interviewed, with questions like;
*Why did I exchange beautiful cozy Holland for Hellish America?
*Are Americans evil?
*Did those weird Americans screw me over?
*And some questions about my work here.
Not only I'm proud that they featured me in that issue but the interview came out pretty good, pictures of my work and a nice photo of me.
Their anniversary issue just appeared in the book-shops & magazine stands, I know I shared a couple postings involving this subject,
but it's only just now I myself received the mag through the mail... more »

The G+JUNKY series
Chris Berg
Pencil on Paper
2012 Chicago
I finally accepted the Computer world, the Internet, you tube and FaceBook etc etc, like an year ago, I did not want to, but people around kept pushing me....
Last summer my little brother in Holland requested via my Gmail an G+ friendship which I accepted, comunicating via the digital platform could save me minutes on the phone I thought, funny enough he never posted or commented anywhere.
Gee plus?, never heard off, he told me during an very long telephone-call we had just after Christmas, I called him to thank him for that awesome package full of cool dutch yummy treats he posted over the real mail to me:-)
Most of you out there will remember this G+junky series, good times.

~hereby an passage from ross Dmochowski's autobiography ~
That cute sexy purple panda bear with an cowboy hat and dressed in a blue bikini
I said NO to a joint once.
Must have been at my monthly 'three and a half week long drink party' I had 2 days ago, but I remember it like it was yesterday.
I was flipping on some LSD, at least, I hoped it was just LSD, which I just bought from my sister an hour ago, and could barely distinguish reality from fantasy.
I kinda expected it had to be my fantasy because an purple panda bear in bikini and cowboy hat in front of me offered me a joint and last night I dreamed of that very same cute sexy purple panda bear giving me a great blow-job.
With a hashish joint stuck on my... more »

~Hereby an small passage from~
The Queen of England and mine 'typical little round black leather hat', like that one Brat Pitt wore in that movie 'SNATCH'
'It was so bloody HELL hot at he Gallery, besides my own work there was not that much to write home about, the Strange and Bizarre art-show was more like annoying and irritating shit pile to me....
I needed an smoke....
The smell of the hashish always attracted the wrong kind of people, and standing out there next to the gallery entrance, this tall blue eyed blond young man complimented me on my typical little round black leather hat', 'where did you bought it'? he asked me, while giving my spliffie back.
Super tipsy on vodka-cranberry and stoned on some good Moroccan shit, I answered him in a semi slurry way; got it in... more »

ZONE 5300 dutch comics and other awkward stuff magazine part 3
Mio in the newspaper, you remember that paper thingy?
Article in de Volkskrant one of the biggest newspapers (if not, maybe the biggest) of the Netherlands about the100th issue of that magazine I've been posting about last week, ZONE 5300, they name me by name and an picture of an cover I did for them, little part left bottom.
God, I'm an attentionwhore, Rockstar wannabee, love it.
Finally they write about me and I'm in an continent on the other side of the ocean, damnitt, what?
Did I signed a contract with the DEVIL? My soul for fame?
My wish will be granted but I'm not gonna get it like how I want it?
Goddamn you Devil!
Can't remember I was on the crossroads, or was that back in Holland when I woke up in the ditch... more »

Acrylic on Paper 2012 Chicago
Just for the fun, sometimes here in the states I will add my native Dutch words into my work, often it gives that loving feeling of obscurity and semi weirdness.
Besides it's fun to see Americans struggle with the pronunciation of that weird language.
This Illustration I made especially for my FaceBook page when I entered that joyful magical world of digital sharemania, springtime last year.
When the summer rolled by I 'accidentally' entered G+.
As digital platform it couldn't be worse I thought, yes, FB connected me with my Dutch family and friends who are on that platform.
But I got very quickly motherfucking bored with that platform itself, godgeezus.
6 months later I'm sooo behind of work and if... more »
