Where mankind's tv broadcasts are now

Whoa... When all those reality tv broadcasts get into contact with aliens, we're safe. They don't want to mess with race so stupid, I heard it's contagious...;) But first broadcasts are pretty far away I admit!

Watched 'The Dark Knight Rises' last night

Batman has been away for eight years and Gotham is rather peaceful. Soon new terror rises as Bane wants to destroy the city and spread anarchy all around. Batman is needed, but Bruce Wayne is hesitating...

Good story and plot flows nicely. Acting is good and movie doesn't have any dull moments. Recommended to all batman fans.

Watched also 'The Divide' couple nights ago

Small group of survivors gather into the basement after nuclear attack that wipes the rest of the city. Soon they start getting hostile towards each other while trying to survive. And there is something strange happening outside the basement...

Quite ordinary survival story, where small group of people are put into small space. Plot is decent, but some happenings are left without explanation. Acting is decent and setting is good. Enjoyable suspense movie, where some actions can be guessed beforehand. Still recommended.

Watched 'The Revenant' couple nights ago

Soldier is killed in an ambush somewhere in iraq while trying to do the right thing. After his family and friends attend his funeral and bury him, something weird happens and he comes back to life. Soon he finds that he must consume blood to keep his body not rotting.

Pretty original plot, with some new ideas. Acting is decent and dialogue is somewhat entertaining. Entertaining movie for all horror/comedy fans.

Watched also 'The New Barbarians' yesterday

After nuclear war mankind struggles to survive in deserted world with only handful of survivors. The Templars try to wipe the rest of the people out for their sins against humanity. Few brave men stand against this cruel horde.

Over-the-top setting and costumes, below average acting, camp feeling all over the movie and good soundtrack. Made in 1983 to represent distant future of year 2019, some technological equipment seem utterly funny nowadays. Blatant rip-off of 'Mad Max II' that is really enjoyable in all of it's cheap production. Recommended for all camp/scifi fans.

Watched 'Zombie Apocalypse' last night

Disc Golf - Disc collection

I just checked out how many golf discs I've acquired and to my surprise, there's quite lot of them... I've been checking out bargains from several stores and gotten good amount of those as used from other hobbyists.

It's nice to getting your hands on "new" disc (to you) and test it out to see if it fits you. So far most of these have been ok for me, but there's some that I'm getting rid of...

And can you guess my favorite color? Yes, it's green... As I really like to find my discs from grass or from forest, green is not an option. ;) I have to settle for two next best colors, pink and orange.

Trip to the zoo

Went yesterday with local engineering chapter to the zoo. This years family trip destination was Korkeasaari Zoo in Helsinki. Early start and late coming back took it's toll for smallest travelers. We spent over eight hours in the premises.

During that time we managed to see all of the animals (that showed themselves), some that had evaded us before were now in clear sight and active. Too bad that otters were yet again hiding. But we managed to see lions, bears, tigers, goats, wild boars and so forth. Too bad that pallas's cat was sleeping curled into a furball and just stayed put. I so wanted to see it!

Nice trip, I would do it again.

Barbecue

Again I tried something new with today's barbecue. This time I filled green jalapenos with crushed garlic and wrapped them in bacon. I have to say that these might be my new favorite from the grill.

We also had mushrooms filled with mango cheese spread and wrapped in bacon (these were also pretty tasty!), buttered corn, small steaks and salad.

Watched Iron Sky couple nights ago

After WWII nazis fled to the dark side of the moon and hid there building new invasion fleet to conquer the earth back in future. Soon they capture one astronaut and start their way back to earth...

Nice plot, lots of fun moments and story flows nicely. Some gags have turned obsolete in just couple years but most work really well. Nice dialogue and alternate reality for those who like nazis, steampunk and sci-fi. Recommended. (Watched theatrical version.)

Watched Alone the dark last night.

Ancient indian tribe managed to open gate between light world and dark world causing some monsters to creep into our world. Now those artifacts required to open the portal again has been found and fate of the world is at stake.

Terrible direction, annoying camera work and story is limping around without destination. I can't figure out any good points from the movie, except that it really ended. And this has nothing to do with the game 'Alone in the dark' even while this is based on it. Avoid at all costs.

Immanentizing the eschaton

My "project eternity" is over! I finally finished this mammoth of a book. It took roughly five years of slow reading and several sessions that I got it done...

While my reading speed is really fast, this book made it best effort to slow me down. No real paragraph structure, jumping from perspective to another, hopping around in places/time/anything and just being really complex language (and English isn't my native language).

I really recommend this to all conspiracy theory fans who like heavy themes and drugs/sex/magic. :D

This is not going to end well...

We Live In An Age of Wonder

So this is a thing.

It's called PacaPong.
I found it from an autocorrect that went horribly right.
The internet is a place of wonder.

You can find it here.

Watched Ghost busters last night.

Three professors get kicked out from university and soon they start their own business that hunts ghosts and other supernatural things. Soon they find out that there's going to be some really nasty spooks in their city.

Really good story, good acting and lots of fun moments. This movie has stood time for over 30 years and is still really enjoyable one. Recommended for everyone.

Watched Død snø couple nights ago...

Bunch of students travel to distant cabin for weekend to find out that there's something evil roaming in the hills... Bunch of undead nazi soldiers have been searching for something and poor students stand on their way.

Somehow I totally forgot that I had already seen this... Good story, nice acting and some over-the-top effects. Recommended for all horror fans.

Watched also The World's End couple nights ago.

Five friends try to walk the 'Golden mile' and go through all 12 pubs having pint of beer in every one of them. 20 years later one of them wants to try again (and succeed this time) and persuades others with him on another walk. Unfortunately the town has changed to something else...

Good story, good acting and really fun comedy moments. Pegg and Frost manage to entertain in this film also and some outbursts of laughter happened while we watched the film. Really recommended for all comedy fans.

Watched Let me in also couple days ago...

Story about young boy who is bullied at school and faces constant beating from gang of other boys. Soon he finds new friend from girl that moves into their apartment building, only to discover her dark secret...

Remake of Swedish film 'Låt den rätte komma in'. Story is ok, acting is decent and suspense grows slowly during the film. Good suspense/horror movie with little less action than in usual movies from same genre.

Watched Ratatouille few days ago...

Young apprentice starts working at legendary french restaurant without any cooking skills. Soon he makes a friend from rat that knows how to cook and more. Suddenly they have to combine their passion and prove that kitchen is really their place.

Good script, story flows really nice and there is something interesting going on whole time. Our family really liked this one. Recommended for everyone.

Mate instead of coffee

I decided to check out other alternatives for coffee when I'm not in hurry... So I ordered some bags of Yerba Mate and proper vessels for drinking it. This morning I had my first real Mate drink through bombilla and it was pretty ok. While I like strong tastes like green tea, this was something I hadn't prepared for. Bit bitter, but still enjoyable. Probably practice makes perfect, so I might have pretty decent brews in near future.
