NYC 207
My dear old 1951 Land Rover has gone at last, sniff...
I sold her to a guy in Abu Dhabi 27 months ago on eBay and he didn't pick her up. I was just about to sell her again, when he rings up and asks to collect her and today she has finally, sniffle, gone. Bye old girl! We had some fun together...

Jump The Gun - Brighton The place to get all your mod gear!
I went to college in Brighton and I can't resist popping in whenever I am near. So after Storyfest last weekend, I just had to get my fix of colour, oddity and quirk. Never fails...

My Grandfather, +Geoffrey Squire , installing a castle in the back garden of his house in Eastbourne UK in 1960. This wonderful creation used to delight and amaze me as a child, set in it's miniature landscape of ferny paths and trickling streams. It was based on a Rhine castle and was made of all manner of ordinary household scrap materials, squeezy bottles, tin cans and bits of lino! Sadly it has not survived the passage of the years but I still have a few panels. #artist

Some of the highlights of a delightful weekend having fun with the great kids at Storyfest 2013 and not just the kids, there were some amazing pop up creations by the adults too!
And a great deal of roaring!!
The cutout dinosaurs were a huge success and have now gone to the village playgroup and nursery.
I even managed not to mess up my very first Keynote presentation. I'm going to present all my books in this way in future, it works so well with big audiences, especially allowing me to show tiny details.

Just some of the amazing kids at Storyfest, all dressed up as their favourite dinosaurs. Choosing a winner was quite a task. A little girl called Juno won with an amazing triceratops mask. So I have just had to paint her custom prize, a pink and purple triceratops! A really great day in the sunshine with hundreds of kids on the village green in Hartfield, Sussex. #childrensbooks #festivals #childrensfestivals

Optimum image display sizes for the new layout
(Using the three column desktop layout)
Has anyone worked them out yet?
For full image display, with no vertical bars, I reckon it's:
Vertical - 503 x 929
Horizontal - max - 1239 x 929
Horizontal - min - 1239 x 687 (anything less than 687 get's scaled up to 687, so the image is cropped to 1239 when in three column mode)
Anyone else?
Has anyone seen a vertical image over more than one column?
Or a two column horizontal image?

Is anyone able to type this out in Greek please?
Wataru Tenga very kindly did the same for me in Japanese just now via the mighty power of the plus...
This is the final page from the Greek version of my children's book Dinosaur Roar and I need to add it to an AV presentation but my Greek keyboard skills are, well, non-existant.
I'm showing the kids at an author event how each country has it's own version of a well known children's book.
Could some very kind person type this out for me, so that I can copy and paste it in?
I have no idea what it says in translation either as I have no control over the foreign texts.
Here is the image it describes https://plus.google.com/u/0/117245054937343378617/posts/9AfinLrudvn
Thanks very much!

Harry Leslie Smith
Harry Leslie Smith is a survivor of the Great Depression, a second world war RAF veteran and at 90 an activist for the poor and for the preservation of social democracy. He has authored numerous books about Britain during the Great Depression, the second world war and postwar austerity.
From The Guardian today, May 9th
"Every year, the spring rains fall hard and heavy to a parched and hungry earth. Life is reborn from the long slumber of winter. For me the beauty in this annual transformation stings as if I caught my finger on a thorn from a rose. These lengthening days remind me of another time, when I was a young man. Back then the sun's rays were just as warm and sensuous but the splendour of nature being reborn was tainted with death. It was 1945, and Europe was still caught in the dying grasps of a cruel and unforgiving world war.

+Helen Stickland and +Design The Band amazing review!
"The diminutive Stickland, the tiniest of presences on stage in terms of physicality, is distended, however, by the pleasingly large, crunchy sound of her Gibson SG and her reverb-entrenched, whirling guitar riffs and catchy chord changes.."
"...with Wessex based 3 piece Design, it is refreshing to hear accessible, hummable 2-3 minute guitar pop tunes delivered with such aplomb in the live forum."
"... dynamic reminiscent of The Pixies and Nirvana."
"...charmingly catchy guitar pop delivered with a no-nonsense seamlessness, I am quite content with the assertion that This Is Pop." WOW!

You may know +Jack Conte from his amazingly creative music videos, either on his own, or together with Nataly Dawn as the wonderful Pomplamousse.
Well, Jack has come up with a really cool way to get involved with artists of all disciplines. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.
A new form of patronage and support for the new social media world
Rather than helping to fund a big project as in KickStarter, this interesting new project 'micro funds' artists and appears committed to long term funding and involvement.

AV presentation help please!
I'm doing an event (see last post) at the kid's festival Storyfest in a couple of weeks and I want to present this book as an AV presentation at one of my events on their big screens.
paulstickland.co.uk/Dinosaur-Roar
Nothing fancy, just the pages of the book, with a few zoom-ins on details, no sound, just something that I can click my way through at my own pace.
Can I use a google drive presentation for this, or do I need to fire up (for the first time) Powerpoint?
All help welcomed. Thanks!
