Latest Voidships News
Just thought I'd let you know what's happening on the Voidships universe. As you may (or may not) know our crowdfunding campaign was a complete bust - not to worry, it was an interesting experiment.
I have just started work with a professional illustrator on a comic book version of The Lazarus Machine the script for the pages is complete and we're working on character and set design.
Plus I've just posted (partly as an experiment) a mini-story, or a vignette in writing parlance, on Wattpad. It's from a Voidships novel I've been working on set during the Second Boer War in South Africa you can take a look using the attached link.
Oh and a "real" producer is interested in making The Lazarus Machine. However 99% of these things never happen so I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you :-)

Memorial Day
Yes, I'm British, and yes, I'm a pacifist, but those who know me, know that I always support soldiers, so I'm writing about Memorial Day. Deal with it.
I want to talk about the vile and despicable murder of Drummer Lee Rigby, in Woolwich on Wednesday.
His killers are not only cowards, but they're the worst form of coward; they claim to fight for what they believe, but refuse to sign up and put their lives on the line honourably for their land of choice.
They are not brave.
They are not warriors.
They are not freedom fighters.
They are not defenders of any faith.
They are not terrorists.
They are not human!

Psychiatric DSM lacks validity - it's official
To quote the article from the NIMH website: The weakness is its [DSM's] lack of validity. Unlike our definitions of ischemic heart disease, lymphoma, or AIDS, the DSM diagnoses are based on a consensus about clusters of clinical symptoms, not any objective laboratory measure. In the rest of medicine, this would be equivalent to creating diagnostic systems based on the nature of chest pain or the quality of fever. Indeed, symptom-based diagnosis, once common in other areas of medicine, has been largely replaced in the past half century as we have understood that symptoms alone rarely indicate the best choice of treatment.
Finally they've admitted they have no scientific medical basis for their categorisations or their diagnoses.All they have is opinion.

Not over 'till the Big-boned Singer warbles
I have a kickstarter campaign running to fund my dark steampunk webseries.
We have 6 days - and we're currently at 3%.
So we're playing a game: The Warbling Big-Boned Singer Game .
To get started in the game you simply have to back the campaign - doesn't matter how much for (really, it doesn't). You can be a Spectator but being a Participant is more fun.
So let's play the game of doing something impossible before the Big-Boned Singer warbles.

My wife just asked me to pass the thesaurus ... the real one on the shelf with other books (like the Oxford dictionary and the 1937 Typist's Handbook). Though this is only the office bookshelf - the shelves in the cellar have hundreds more books*. Obviously. :-)

Timothy West joins the cast of THE LAZARUS MACHINE
Negotiations complete today
Timothy West has joined the cast of the Steampunk webseries THE LAZARUS MACHINE. In a career spanning 50 years on stage, in film and on TV. His more memorable performances include the title role Edward VII for the BBC, he appeared more recently in Exile and Sky's Going Postal.
More casting (and other) news soon.
A crowdfunding campaign to bring this series to the screen will be launched at the beginning of February, principle photography to start in May. Sophie Aldred joins the cast of THE LAZARUS ENGINE
At last we can tell you!
Sophie Aldred best known for her role in Dr Who as the 7th Doctor's companion Ace (see http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/Sophie_Aldred for more complete background) is attached to appear in the Steampunk webseries THE LAZARUS ENGINE.

You might have seen the Lynx deodorant "Space Academy" advert to send two people into space (well, sub-orbital but close enough) my daughter wants to go so if you feel so inclined please vote for her at:

She's black belt Jujitsu and is currently training in ninjutsu (really).
And she's a total geek when it comes to SF/Fantasy, and role-playing games :-)

We need to know what you think
We're launching a kickstarter campaign for a steampunk webseries in a couple of weeks and we need a poster. We have two basic designs (neither actually finished) and disagree on which is better.
