this Xmas i watched Looper. I had decided i would ignore the fact that in the future it was easier to send someone back in time than to get rid of a body.
I did enjoy the film, but was a bit disappointed by all the contradictions. If they cut someone's fingers and legs, he would never have been able to escape at all and wouldn't get sent back with legs and fingers.

Back to the Future 1/2/3

A sci-fi comedic trilogy that is bigger than its individual parts.
It has so many clever situations like different perspectives of the same scene in its 2nd and 3rd sequel.
It can be enjoyed by the whole family which for sci-fi films is rare.
I still remember clearly after watching Part I in the cinema being unable to wait for Part II. The same can be said of Part III.

If only all films had script writers like these..

My #1 best sci-fi series ever goes to Battlestar Galactica (2003 version)

Why does it get it ? Mostly for the plot, the Cylons returned but that would not have given it the success it got if it was not for...

The start of season 1 episodes said it well:
"...some dont even know they are Cylons..."

The best memory i have of this series is about the bugs in the simulated virtual world that the "players" took advantage of.
Not that most knew they were in a virtual world...
The repeating combat scenarios with only 1 exit goal was also interesting...

This was actually the first HD-DVD i bought (sadly i picked the wrong side).
It however showed me i add missed out on a series that "the powers that be" considered not good enough...
Watch the movie, but better yet, see the series "Firefly" first...
Not everyone thinks good series suck... ;)

The Matrix became an instant Cult movie when it was released.
The plot showed that humans were prisoners of an alien race (will avoid commenting on the feasibility of using humans as an energy source) and Reality was just a simulation (dream).
It brought into the spotlight "Bullet Time" and with its special effects, rightly deserved to be a hit.
Its sequels (and planned 2 future sequels most likely) did not bring much more to the table and lived off the success of the original.
It also showed that Humanity needs to believe in something more than just "common" reality.
Without a doubt one of the best sci-fi films ever.

By many considered the best sci-fi film ever, it achieved a combination of plot/image/music in 1982 that has not been surpassed.
A vision of the future that films 20 years later still failed to achieve, a soundtrack from Vangelis that makes me want to see the end theme every time...
With the confirmed upcoming of a sequel (pre-quel), it is only right to recall Blade Runner and the year it was made, 1982.

Starting off with a more recent one, In Time is very clear:
Some have to pay for others not to die.
Given the limited resources on the planet, you have to make people die so other can continue to live.
This is done by directly or indirectly reducing the lifetime of the "poor"
A film that clearly shows that in a world were there is population growth, Immortality is flawed.
