It's time to wrap up round 3 of #iseetheworldwithscience.
Great discusion everyone! 

First of all, as +Bonnie Montleon pointed out, this is a Llama.

But the discussion about what else you could see with science in this photo ranged from the water cycle, to canyons cut by water and the history of animal domestication.

But the top votes were tied between +Matthew Padilla and +Rajini Rao.
+Matthew Padilla informed us about plants that get most of their water from suspended water vapor condensing on them rather than rain. 
+Rajini Rao pointed out that Llama's are ungulates which are related to cetaceans (whales) which led to a great and long discussion about these seemingly unrelated branches of the evolutionary tree.

Here's a photo of a monkey. Isn't it adorable? Normally you'd just see an adorable monkey, some ruins and maybe wonder why he's trying to get past the photographer. Maybe he's trying grab some food or chase another monkey**. 

But how much more can we see with science?
If you see something more, add a one sentence description in the comments. It should be short, clear and very sciency. (See some suggestions below)  

The more creative, surprising or unexpected the better. But it needs to be something based on actual science. Don't just say the trees are green, explain why they're green.

In particular, I am hoping to learn what YOU see as the best resources for leaning about Human Evolution for a general public audience. There is a lot of talk right now about  Xiao-Gang Wen's recent Science paper (found at http://www.sciencemag.org/content/338/6114/1604.full ) about phases of matter and their classification by symmetry.

Somewhat less technical but no less thought provoking is his recent blog post about emergence as a common character between condensed-matter physics and high-energy/particle physics. In this paper, he tries (though somewhat unconvincingly) to connect the two by positing that long-range entanglement of states is a common physical phenomenon that relates the fields.

From my point of view as a condensed-matter physicist, this is interesting because the only connection between the somewhat stolid and everyday physics that I know and love and the high-flying super-sexy world of particle physics is the second quantization and many-body theory. The College of Engineering will offer its first free online course, TechniCity, in May 2013 as part of The Ohio State University’s new Coursera offerings. The four-week class will explore how the increasing availability of networks, sensors and mobile technologies allows for new approaches to address the challenges that our cities face. It will cover how cities are changing, how technology is used to engage with the public to support decision-making, tools for analyzing the city, the infrastructure that makes the real time city possible, and how creativity can spawn technological innovation.
