New Photo Challenge: The Treasure Hunt –– March 2013

It's time to start announcing the third Treasure Hunt Challenge.

It's easy, it's exciting and it's fun, take our word for it. We do one challenge every month and each will consist of four rounds, one every week, the last being the final. Sounds intriguing? 

Some of you already know the challenge but for new contestants it might be of interest to know more.

We will provide you with various photographic tasks and it's up to you to take a creative shot in order to make it to the next round. You have one week to complete each round and if you manage to complete three rounds in a row, you're in the final round and have a chance to win the whole thing. Just a short rant....

I have always bought most of my stuff from +B and H . For several years now, and approximately $4K this year. I just got a D600 with a battery grip and included in the kit from B&H was a Pearstone battery, advertised as equivalent to the EN-EL15. When I put it in the battery grip, the camera shows a dead battery. Pull the battery out and reseat it- the battery works... until the next time you turn the camera off, and then you pick up your camera and it shows a dead battery, and won't start up, even if there is a battery in the body. This behavior does not happen with a genuine Nikon battery. So clearly they are NOT "equivalent" as advertised. I threw away the plastic bag it came in. B&H won't do anything except trade it for another Pearstone battery that won't work as advertised.

Here's a new page and theme from +Charles Lupica.  Let us know what you would like to see us do with this page.  We are thinking of running this as a theme or perhaps as a gallery.

We will try to respond to images tagged with #AllThingsBlackandWhite  or #allThingsMonochrome.
We are leaning toward a gallery where the best monochrome / Black and  White images could be shared with the community as well as articles on how to do conversions, what software to use,  how to see in black and white.  In short, a content rich stream.

The BRAND NEW Google+ Pages & Themes Circle –– Announcement Post

This circle is a bit different than the rest of my shared circles, but it will be a perfect one to add. The focus of the circle will be PAGES and THEMES around photography. Like the Yellow Pages of Pages & Themes on Google+. Pages will be shared in a circle and themes without a page will be listed on a Google+ Page that I will create.

Who can ask for inclusion?

If you have a page (not your normal account but a separate page) focusing on photography (personal photo pages are ok) and/or curate a theme, then this is the circle you want to be in. Commercial photo pages are as welcome as pages/themes from amateurs.

Examples: A theme page would be +Curvy Friday and it's theme hash would be #curvyfriday .
