Ryan Johnson9,485Hi friends! This is a great circle created with an important selection from all circles. The most important engagers are reshared because only that way can we grow our circle and have the people of google circle us.To get in, and to ensure you stay in this circle you need to do the following:1. Add me to your circles, if you haven't done so already!2. +1 this circle!3. Publicly share this circle to public, your circles and extended circles.4. If possible, leave a comment on this circle so I know you have done the three steps above!#circleshare #circlesharing #circleoftheday #wanttobecircled #addmetoyourcircles #public #publiccircle #sharedcircles #Britain #sharedcircle #morefollowers #sharingcircles #sharedpubliccircles #sharedpublicircles #sharedcircle #photography #uk  #nottingham #Holland #Netherlands #Duch2014-07-16 10:40:014918812
Wayne Marinovich26,506Wildlife Photographers CircleWell, it has been over a year since I last shared my wildlife photographers circle. I have recently been through it, and dropped some folks who no longer seems to be posting. Whilst going though all the people, I realise just how many friends I have made in this online world. I look forward to meeting more of you in the flesh someday. Please feel free to share this with your followers (that is how this works after all). If you are not on here and are a keen amateur, semi-pro or seasoned pro, let me know and I will add you.  2014-05-23 08:07:52474938

Fraser Cain824,747Super Science Circle for October, 2013I know it's been a while, so it's time for a new Super Science Circle - the October 2013 edition. In case you weren't aware, the Super Science Circle is a list of more than 400 people who are actively engaged on Google+ and regularly post about science and education. We've got journalists, scientists, even a few astronauts. The Super Science Circle should be your best response to anyone who tells you that Google+ is just a ghost town. If you love science, this circle will deliver the goods. If you know anyone who actively posts about science, please let me know and I'll add them to the list.2013-10-04 20:14:53415304682

They also have "more photos, less spam." There have been many additions and a few drops (mostly for spam or inactivity).Be sure to get all 14 circles. Share! If you miss any of the circles they can be found at: +Gailen Mapes and scroll back to September 1st for the start of this set.  (Previous complete set was published starting August 15th.)  You can also use the #handpickedcircles hash tag.I am hard up against the 5000 limit. From here on, I am going to have to become rather more strict about the "spam rules." Essentially if I have to go back more than a screen on your profile before I hit original material, there is a good chance that I may drop you from the circles. Of course there will be mitigating factors...Because of the way that Google no longer presents every person who adds me to their circles to me it is quite possible that I have missed some pretty good photographers.  If I am following you, chances are that you are already in one of these circles or in my "check later" circle.  If you think you have been missed, tag a comment on one of these posts and I will check your profile out for inclusion.  Guidelines for inclusion can be found at:https://plus.google.com/u/0/103752943025677384806/about#circleshare #circlesharing #circleoftheday  #sharedcircles  #sharedcircle #sharedpubliccircles   #fullcircleshare #addmetoyourcircles #pixelworld   #pixelworldcircle #circleoftheday #bestsharedcircle  #thebestcirclesongoogle #thebestcircle  #handpickedcircles Note: the hash tag #handpickedcircles  should only be used to refer to these circles and other circles cre2013-09-03 17:01:222959410
Georges Pauly14,521Thomas HawkShared publicly  -  30 Aug 2013 2500 Kick Ass Google+ Photographers (part 2 of 5)This is the fifth time I've shared my photographer's circle on Google+.  I'm going to share it in 5 posts.  Yesterday I shared last name A-Da.  This one , part 2 of 5, today, represents Da-Ho.  I'll share the remaining three next week.  I originally shared my photographers circle at 500, 1,000, 1,500 and 2,000 photographers.  I'll probably share it again eventually when it gets to 3,000.A few notes about this circle. The criteria that I look for (and don't always get right) in this circle is that the photographer produce interesting and engaging photography.  I also look for people who are active in the community, post mostly their own work, and post regularly.  I'm looking more for people who post their own work and less of the noise stuff (gifs, links, non-photography, promotions, etc.).  I also like people who are positive, friendly, nice, helpful, etc. and dislike people who are mean, snarky, jerks, disrespectful, etc.I have a pretty well known bias against signatures and watermarks.  You will see very few photographers in my circles who use them.  I really hate the watermark debate and would rather not have it with folks.  I just don't like them -- it's my circle that I have to look at.  There are likely a few folks in here who use them who are friends of mine, but for the most part, this is a pretty watermark free circle.  It's totally cool if you love your watermark, it's just not something I really want to look at.  Please don't hate me for my aesthetic preference.  Finally, the photography community on Google+ is probably the best one on the internet today.  There is no way that I can possibly include all of the fine photographers worth following on G+.  There are wayyyyy too many.  These are just 2,500 that I personally have noticed.  I'm sure I left out some really amazing ones -- like you if you are not in this circle :)  I'll probably also totally kick myself when I realize that I accidentally left out a really obvious good one who may even be a friend of mine -- again, maybe even like you.  :)Stay tuned for parts 3, 4 and 5 and thanks again to all of the great photographers on G+ who make this place such a delight to hang out.Part 1-5:  http://goo.gl/17ujpn*Note, Google Circles are terribly wonky.  It wouldn't let me add some photographers in my circle into these circles because of domain errors.  If this affected you, sorry about that.2013-09-01 19:56:06482204

Fraser Cain779,548Super Science Circle - May 2013 EditionNeed more science in your Google+? Well, here's all the science you can handle! Enjoy my latest, heavily curated edition of the Super Science Circle. Please share this circle... for Science! For the uninitiated, I maintain a circle of 450+ people who are active on Google+ and regularly post on Google+. In this circle you'll find scientists, journalists, astronauts, educators, and science enthusiasts. By importing this circle into your own circles, you'll immediately gain a vibrant and fascinating feed of amazing science stories.I recognize that it might be too much science, so I suggest you create a brand new temporary circle and evaluate the people in the circle. Only transfer the keepers to your permanent circles. Then, when I update the circle next month, rinse and repeat. Are you active on G+ and regularly post about science? +mention me and I'll check out your profile.Remember, please share this post2013-05-22 19:26:51456348088

Fraser Cain770,050Super Science Circle - April 2013 EditionIt's time for another sharing of my Super Science Circle. This is a collection of 400+ active people on Google+ who often post about science. If anyone tells you G+ is a ghost town (not that anyone does any more), get them to import this circle. PLEASE SHARE THIS CIRCLE... FOR SCIENCE!I have personally reviewed each and every person on this list, to make sure that they:1. Are active and engaged on Google+2. Regularly post science-related stories on Google+In this list you'll find scientists, journalists, researchers, professors, astronauts and general science enthusiasts. Not everyone in this list is going to be to your personal liking. So what you'll want to do is import the list into a temporary circle. Then move people over one by one into more permanent locations in your circles.I'm always looking for more people to add to the list, so if you know people who meet my criteria, feel free to nominate them.Again, please share the circle. Every little bit helps2013-04-26 21:02:03419226277

It's that time of year once again - please keep your eyes open for amphibians on the roads as they make their way to breeding ponds.

There's also lots of amphibian road patrols all around that are in urgent need of volunteers during this time of year - maybe you can help them save lives!

Reminder: Amphibians are now out of hibernation and crossing roads in parts of Europe!___It's that time of year once again - please keep your eyes open for amphibians on the roads as they make their way to breeding ponds.

Prehistoric! Common snapping turtle (Chelydra serpentina), photographed in Ontario, Canada.

Whenever we spot a snapper, it is a moment filled with great excitement, wonder and awe ... no matter how many we see :) Finding this one that day was no exception!

I ♥ these magnificent creatures!

Like poison dart frogs, the Golden Mantella retains toxins from the insects they eat so that they themselves are toxic too!

Reptiles and amphibians are part of our hidden biodiversity, species that are a vital part of healthy ecosystems, even though we may be unaware of their presence. These include the snakes, which serve as touchstones to healthy habitats.

We all know amphibians and reptiles are declining worldwide. But today, we want to talk specifically about turtles and tortoises. We’re losing our turtles, it’s that simple. But why?

A rather unexpected find while out mountain biking this past weekend (when all I had on me was my iPhone ... of course)!

A turtle (Trichemys scripta) that should not have been where it was ... RES ... not native to this area.

But very cute ... I have a soft spot for the turtles so few wouldn't give a second thought to.

An incredibly tiny Red-backed salamander (Plethodon cinereus) spotted during the weekend!

Less than 5cm in total length and about 2mm wide … a very small and absolutely wonderful find!

What strange creature lurks beneath the calm waters of the streams and swamps in southern Ontario, Canada? The Eastern newt (Notophthalmus viridescens viridescens) - the only species of newt in this area :)

These newts actually contain toxins in their skin that are lethal to most predators.

A rough life for this Northern water snake (Nerodia sipedon) on a warm sunny day this past weekend!

Us Canadians never waste an opportunity to bask out in the sun!

Red-backed salamanders (Plethodon cinereus) are not eager to face Monday's either!

This one thought it was safely tucked away from view yesterday half under a log ... but a bright red stripe on a blue tail isn't necessarily the best camouflage against brown branches and leaves :D

Stay tuned for footage from multiple continents - including this Moor frog (Rana arvalis) from Europe!

One of the best finds to make out in the field: amphibian spawn! Will definitely be checking back there shortly to see how the little guys are developing!

Eastern/Red-spotted newt spawn (Notophthalmus viridescens)

PS Pardon the poor quality photo ... I wasn't about to stumble through the water to grab this shot and risk stepping on anything swimming around in there. I happened to spot this clump out in the water while standing on the trail.
