Jesse Wojdylo834,780Over the last few months I have noticed many people using Twitter to supplement Google+ or the other way around. I think there are some very effective strategies that can be used. This week we will get some of those strategies out on the table. All the information you need on Google Plus Chat is available here: http://wojdylosocialmedia.com/google-plus-chat-twitter-chat/ In December of last year I really jumped on Twitter in a big way as I love the real time updates and the sports engagement. This has yet to come to Google+ so I spend my weekends chatting it up with college football and college basketball folks. While doing that I notice plenty of other awesome social media users that know and love the Google+ platform. This led me to these discussion questions: 1. How long have you been active on Twitter? 2. Do you use Twitter for pleasure or business? Or pain? 3. Do you auto post to Twitter? Do you post Google+ Posts? 4. How do you use Twitter to supplement Google+? 5. Mention some active Twitter users that may enjoy Google+ 6. Do you want a Google Plus Chat on Christmas Eve? Please join us for #googlepluschat  on Twitter every Tuesday at 2:00 pm est. We will discuss if there will be a Christmas Eve event or not. Either way, join us this week!Google Plus Chat Twitter Chat2013-12-17 20:00:0053
European Commission1,451,051Where do we stand and how will the European Union emerge from the economic crisis? These are just two of a number of questions the President of the European Commission, José Manuel Barroso, will address when he gives the 2012 State of the Union Address at the European Parliament in Strasbourg on 12th September at 09.00 CET. President Barroso will give a candid and clear assessment of the situation facing Europe and how he believes Europe should move forward over the coming years. These are some of the images the term obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) brings to mind - but is that accurate?

Even though a great deal of organisation goes into our camera club weekends away, we are unfortunately not so organised about planning what to shoot when we are actually out there.

Basically we tend to just wing it. This tends to work pretty well for the daytime and afternoon shoots, since we can just drive about exploring new places and stopping wherever we feel like taking some photographs.

However for us sunrise landscape shooters we tend to like to have some idea of where we are going to go and some sort of expectation of what is going to be there when we get there. I know crazy talk… :). When you’re heading off in the darkness an hour or two before sunriseit’... more »

When you’re heading off in the darkness an hour or two before sunrise it’s sometimes kind of handy to have some sort of plan :).

So it was we’re in the house where we all gathered to eat and chat on our first evening and a few of us start to wonder if we’ll get up for sunrise and go shoot “somewhere”. Given we are not actually familiar with the location and no-one did any recce during daylight the “somewhere” is the problem :).

So it was onto Google, Flickr and other such resources to see if we could find somewhere close by to go shoot sunrise. I found a few shots online of these interesting looking poles at the edge of this dam and as it happens it was less than five minutes drive down the road from where we were staying.

Getting up the next morning was a bit of a struggle – our accommodation at Cicada and Hunter Moon Country Houses was very very comfy and warm, and well it was cold out here on a winters morning in the country :).

Still three of us were up and on location at this spot before 6:30AM (which was pretty late for me since this was just 15 minutes before sunrise).

Most of the cloud was over on the left towards sunrise, so this view up above looking south over the poles and the dam wasn’t so great colour wise but the use of the 6 Stop ND of the Lee Little Stopper adds an extra dimension to the image.

As you can see these poles simply lead out into the water of the dam – and we couldn’t actual fathom their purpose?

Should people have the right to create and share images and photographs of public buildings without having to compensate for the use of copyright? The so-called freedom of panorama already exists in some EU countries, but MEPs are now considering whether it should be extended to all member states. As they will debate it on 9 July, we asked two MEPs on opposing sides of the issue why they think it would be a good or a bad thing

Note: this project is SO new and exciting, that there aren't actually any images of it yet! So we’ve used one from the Kentish Flats Offshore Wind Farm in England, because we think it does a pretty good job of showing the beauty of offshore wind power

Lol. This is doing the rounds on Facebook. It shows the political parties in Greece since 1974, and the message at the end says "And it'd all SYRIZA's fault" ... Referring to the debt crisis.

What they fail to comprehend is that no one is blaming SYRIZA for the debt crisis. What everyone is blaming SYRIZA for is the drastic degradation of the situation.

Incompetence coupled with arrogance has resulted in a national default and a worsening of a bad situation.

When I went to Flinders University and studied International and Australian Politics, I had two of South Australia's best lecturers and tutors. If every student had lecturers and tutors like these, Australian society and politics would be much better.

Andrew Mack helped his students understand conflicts better than anyone else I have ever met. He insisted on all students taking on a stance that was directly opposite to one's own views. For example, if one was pro-Israel, one had to make a solid stance in the discussions on a pro-Palestinian viewpoint.

His attitude was "to understand your enemy, you need to know them. To know them, you can then defeat them", something which even today I still believe in strongly. Know thy enemy, so to speak.

Dean Jaensch is South Australia's leading state political commentator. Australian politics at University and in particular state politics, was a course that was totally and utterly enlightening. Many anecdotes he gave of his involvement in state politics. Like the time he went to an Australian Labor Party meeting, pulled out his folder with the ALP logos on it but inside was the Liberal policies. He read them out and praised the ALP on how brilliant their policies were, and got a standing ovation from the ALP. He did the same for a Liberal Party meeting but in reverse [Liberal folder, Labor policies], and again praised the Liberals for their excellent policies. Standing ovation.

He taught us how in politics, sometimes parties are so close together they don't realise how close.

He is still a political commentator and a Professor of Political and International Studies at The Flinders University of South Australia

two photos, two different dates.

Similarity. The first one is the day after SYRIZA won power [there were more "dramatic" photos taken at the time], and the second one, the day after SYRIZA announced the "banks are closed".

First one was winter, second one is summer.

A warning from above?

45,000 to 50,000 IS-affiliated social media accounts churn out an estimated 100,000 tweets a day, sources suggest, and a new pan-European unit at Europol is set to find and delete these accounts. The team starts work the first of July.

”We will have to combine what we see online, with our own intelligence and that that is shared with us by European police services, so we can be a bit more targeted and identify who the key user accounts are... and concentrate on closing them down," Europol's director, Rob Wainwright, told the BBC.

The sooner, the better. He was elected to make the lives of Greeks a better one. Instead, he has plummeted the country in a worse situation than it has been since the global financial crisis hit.

His actions over the last 48 hours has placed the country not only into a situation of defaulting, but also the consequences of that being exiting the euro and a big bump up in unemployment and economic destruction. Three things the Greek voters never voted for in the last election.
