Jesse Wojdylo924,882Over the last few months I have noticed many people using Twitter to supplement Google+ or the other way around. I think there are some very effective strategies that can be used. This week we will get some of those strategies out on the table. All the information you need on Google Plus Chat is available here: http://wojdylosocialmedia.com/google-plus-chat-twitter-chat/ In December of last year I really jumped on Twitter in a big way as I love the real time updates and the sports engagement. This has yet to come to Google+ so I spend my weekends chatting it up with college football and college basketball folks. While doing that I notice plenty of other awesome social media users that know and love the Google+ platform. This led me to these discussion questions: 1. How long have you been active on Twitter? 2. Do you use Twitter for pleasure or business? Or pain? 3. Do you auto post to Twitter? Do you post Google+ Posts? 4. How do you use Twitter to supplement Google+? 5. Mention some active Twitter users that may enjoy Google+ 6. Do you want a Google Plus Chat on Christmas Eve? Please join us for #googlepluschat  on Twitter every Tuesday at 2:00 pm est. We will discuss if there will be a Christmas Eve event or not. Either way, join us this week!Google Plus Chat Twitter Chat2013-12-17 20:00:0053

A new 4.5 m-diameter ‘acquisition aid’ dish antenna is being added to ESA’s existing New Norcia, Western Australia, tracking station, ready to catch the first signals from newly launched satellites.

The new antenna will allow acquisition and tracking during the critical initial orbits of new missions (see Liftoff: ESOC assumes control at http://www.esa.int/spaceinimages/About_Us/ESOC/Liftoff ), up to roughly 100 000 km range. It can also ‘slave’ the much larger 35m dish, which can then be used to retrieve ranging data and telemetry signals – on-board status information – from the newly launched spacecraft.

The antenna was designed for low maintenance and operating costs and can go into hibernation when it is not needed between launches.

Michael raised an interesting point on the Borg .... any thoughts?

Comment on his original post :)

Why are all Borg white?  Even black people, after assimilation, are white Borg.  There's some interesting social commentary there.  Often, this kind of stuff is written without a focus on preaching about race relations, but it's interesting the implications we can infer from it.

Historically speaking, white cultures have forced the assimilation (no coincidence in my choice of word) of natives all over the world, the native peoples often lose their cultural identities in the process.  Regardless of literal skin colour, our cultures make the natives "white".  Alternately, the Borg could be a bit more space-racist.  They assimilate more and more species and technologies to achieve "perfection".  At some point, they might have assimilated space-Nazis, because they don't seem to like their society to have any black people in it.

The most likely explanation, to me, is it's not about race at all.  It's just art direction.  The Borg drones are covered in black machinery.  That contrasts well with the exaggeratedly corpsey white skin.  I imagine the Borg would all be black, if their armour were grape flav-  I mean purple, but Star Trek already has one ambiguously brown enemy, in the Klingons.  There'd be serious grounds to think the writers were racist, if they had two black enemies.___Michael raised an interesting point on the Borg .... any thoughts?

What does Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso of Lesotho have in common?

One would say "very little" with the exception of both being Princes. However the two came together and formed Sentebale in Lesotho.

Lesotho, with a population of just 2 million people, it is hard to believe that the orphan population is over 360,000, and over 37,000 children under the age of 14 are HIV+. Overall, Lesotho has the second highest HIV infection rate in the world!

The movies are still popular today - The Big Boss, Fist of Fury, Way of the Dragon and Enter the Dragon.

He passed away on the 20th of July 1973 from a reaction to Equagesic, which contained both aspirin and the tranquilizer meprobamate.

WITH A NUCLEAR BOMB HITLER WOULD HAVE WON THE WAR

How close was Nazi Germany in obtaining an atom bomb?

In January of 1939, the German chemists Otto Hahn and Fritz Strassmann published the results of an historic experiment: after bombarding uranium with neutrons—neutrally charged particles—they found barium, an element roughly half the size of uranium. Their former colleague Lise Meitner, who a few months before had been forced to flee Germany and seek refuge in Sweden, and her nephew Otto Frisch realized that the uranium nucleus had split in two. These revelations touched off a frenzy of scientific work on fission around the world.

The European Space Agency's (ESA) ExoMars program (Exobiology on Mars) is a series of missions designed to understand if life ever existed on Mars.

The first mission in the ExoMars program is called the Trace Gas Orbiter (TGO), undertaken in partnership between ESA and Russia's Federal Space Agency, Roscosmos.

The first mission of the ExoMars programme, scheduled to arrive at Mars in 2016, consists of a Trace Gas Orbiter plus an entry, descent and landing demonstrator module, known as Schiaparelli. The main objectives of this mission are to search for evidence of methane and other trace atmospheric gases that could be signatures of active biological or geological processes and to test key technologies in preparation for ESA's contribution to subsequent missions to Mars.

Guacamole Onion Rings

Here’s what you will need:

3 avocados, ripe
1 lime
1 tomato, diced and drained of excess water
1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp chili powder
2 small-medium yellow onions
Flour
2 eggs, beaten
2 cups panko bread crumbs
Oil for frying

Directions:

In a medium mixing bowl, mash avocados with the juice of one lime. Mix in chopped tomato, cilantro, garlic, salt, and chili powder.
Cut onion into 1/2-inch slices. Carefully separate the layers into individual rings. On a wax paper–lined tray, lay out onion rings and fill each with guacamole. Place tray in freezer until solid (about one hour).
Add flour, beaten eggs, and panko bread crumbs to three separate bowls. Remove frozen guacamole rings from freezer. Roll each first in flour, then egg, then bread crumbs. Coat once more in egg and a final time in bread crumbs.
In a large saucepan, heat oil to 350˚F (180˚C). Fry guacamole onion rings in batches until nicely browned on all sides. Place on paper towel–lined plate to drain off any excess oil. Sprinkle with salt and lime juice. Serve with sour cream.
